Plunging into the macro world

The macro world. It is a whole new world to explorer. Although it doesn't seem very far away from us, like the sun or the moon, it is usually outside of our awareness. And yet, when we just look a little bit more closely, a world is revealed that is alien and strange to say the least. Photography is the best tool we have to get a better understanding of this world. It is a microcosm full of detail and wonder. Things seem to work a little bit differently here from what we are used to. Nature's rules seem to get bent and stretched and new plant and animal life enters the viewfinder.

Have you ever seen a spider like this? It's not particularly what you would call the stereotypical image of a spider. At least to me this picture is very different to those nasty, black and fear stricken images that are normally associated with spiders (I'm sorry spiders). What a capture, indeed!

There is wonder here and I wonder how it would change people if we were to experience a day as small as this spider. Raindrops as big as cars, the most gentle breeze might feel like a hurricane, and grains of sand become football sized objects...

And this is just one cross-section of the scope of the universe. We can go to even smaller scales in which this spider becomes as big as a planet. But here is a question: what would that do to our consciousness? Would it become smaller as well or does it stay the same? What is consciousness anyway?

hey Scienceangel, thanks for the info. I wrongly thought it's enough to provide a link to the images.

I changed my post, let me know if there are still some problems! I used images that google labeled as "labeled for reuse"

Thank you very much, the images are now fine, except one more thing - for the second image besides providing a source, you need to write an attribution to the author of the image, under the image, like this:
Image credit: Thomas Shahan, CC BY 2.0
Please check text under the Licensing part in the page of the image to understand what I'm talking about for future reference.

okay thanks :)
