Trepanation ever done humans on animals since 5000 years ago
The interactions and relationships of animals with humans have had many positive effects for a long time. It was expressed in a research conducted by the researchers. A mature, hollow cow (Bos taurus) skull was discovered by archaeologists. The skull is thought to originate from 3400-3000 years ago and shows that man has tried to do trepanation since 5000 years ago.
However, the exact condition so far can not be ascertained whether the holes contained in the cow skull were drilled when the animal is alive or after death. Because the skull does not show evidence of healing.
So far, the intent of the hole found in the head of a cow is still a mystery that has not been revealed. Fernando Ramirez Rozzi, as the research director explains;
If it is a primitive brain surgery or surgery that aims to save the cow, then that is the oldest evidence found from animal surgery.
The evidence of cranial operation has so far been proven by many animal skeletons meeting in the world since mesolithic or in the stone age before spreading further in the neolithic age. Samuel George Morton has proved an ancient trepanation in his book titled Crania American published in 1839.
To find out the nature of the holes found in the cow skull the researchers conducted observations with Wild M8 stereomicroscope which are combined with the camera Spot Idea. In the meantime, to find out the artisan damage, the researchers use X-scan 3D and close-up radiography are used around the NOMAD hole, aribex (X-Ray handheld machine) coupled with a digital X-ray RSV2 sensor. Researchers have tested the same technique on 18 human cranians from French neolithic sites.
Initially the researchers concluded that the skull is hollow due to fights with fellow animals. However, based on the size of the hole 2.5 x 1.8 inches (6.4 x 2.5 cm) then it is one form of human operation process performed by humans. If the animals gore against each other, between the holes there will be a serious crack. It is not in the skull of the cow.
The first trepanation was found on a rock tomb, in 2010 in Imola in northern Italy, near the city of Bologna. the human skull (mother and baby) originated in the mesolithic period in 8000 BC to 2700 BC. Trepanation techniques allegedly carried out early humans to reduce blood pressure and some other types of medical diseases.
In the findings of cow skull is not known for sure why people in antiquity using cattle as a test trepanasi. Is it just a trial, or just trying to save the cow or even used for the practice trepanasi.
If the trepanation technique is done the same as in human skull. So it can be concluded that it was done to save the cow. But the researchers did not find any form of the type of disease indicated on the cranium's skull. []
