Scanning Atoms With Your Phone

in #science7 years ago (edited)

Quantum Base, a start-up that emerged from the Lancaster University, has found a new way of signing products to prevent counterfeiting. It works at atomic scale and is almost impossible to fake. The signature is a two dimensional material, only one layer of atoms thick and... you can scan it with your phone!

“It is wonderful to be on the front line, using scientific discovery in such a positive way to wage war on a global epidemic such as counterfeiting, which ultimately costs both lives and livelihoods alike,”

Really impressive! So, we are now able to engineer materials on an atomic scale and scan them with our smartphones.

Awesome!
