They discovered the first gene for aging
For the first time in the history of science, scientists have discovered a genetic mutation that appears to protect against biological effects of aging . For the moment, assume that the only community in the world that it possesses old community of Amish in Indiana.
The team of Dr. Douglas Vaughn from Northwestern University examined data from 177 of the Amish community in the city of Berne, Indiana, and found that 43 of them are carriers of the mutated gene. Compared to the total group of all Amish particularly in the studied community, 43 people had a 10% longer life and 10% longer telomeres (DNA protective structures at the end of our chromosomes that razvrazvat when cells reach the end of its life ). Same Amish and have demonstrated resistance to diabetes, in addition to lower blood pressure and more flexible blood vessels.
