Hawking, on Particles and Black Holes
If you are fond of reading about black holes, chances are you, are among the many that wonder what happens to matter after it is swallowed by a black hole.

The General Theory of Relativity predicts that the physical information about the material that fell into the black hole would be destroyed. The laws of quantum mechanics, however tell us that shouldn't be the case as information is eternal.
Stephen Hawking, in collaboration with Malcolm Perry of the University of Cambridge in England and Andrew Stromberg of Harvard University has come up with a plausible explanation. "The quantum-mechanical information about infalling particles doesn't actually make it inside the black hole." The information remains at the event horizon.

Hawking reasons, however that although information is stored at the boundary in two-dimensional holograms, this information is considerably scrambled and lost because of the chaotic and ambiguous way the information was stored.
Far away from the Black Hole, a particle can move in any direction at speeds less than the speed of light.
Nearer the black hole, the fabric of space-time begins to warp and there are more paths leading to the black hole than paths moving away from it.
Inside of the black hole, the particles can no longer escape. Information about the infalling particle remains in the event horizon.
The idea was presented recently at the Hawking Radiation conference held at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Researchers hoped they were able to address one of the mysteries in Physics known as the Information Paradox.
