OLD SAMSUNG GALAXY S5 TURNED INTO MINING CRYPTOCURRENCIES.

Bitcoin mining or should I say cryptocurrency mining has been significantly on trend this year. The people who usually invested in this are called "miners". Usually miners uses com- puters with high performing graphics card and relies on the central processing units or CPUs to keep tracks of transferring of crypto- currencies in the blockchain. It only needed some internet connection for the computer to be always online so it can keep tracks of the transactions. And in exchange for this service they can mine different cryptocurrencies depending on which software they will used. Some are really into this that they build expensive mining rig or higher performance CPUs and GPUs to earn more.

We often put our old phones in a safe place inside our house for it to be not used forever. The reason is that all smartphones providers or developers like Apple and Samsung upgraded their units from time to time for marketing strategies. And the impact or results to the users is that they usually used their smartphones for only two years. So most of us thinks that old phones are only good to be placed in our closets.

What if there is still a purpose for that, what if you can used it for cryptocurrency mining?

The Samsung's engineering team also known as the C-Lab focuses on trying to innovate and finding ways for the old samsung phones to be still used. But not just simply reusing it but a creative way of reusing it. And one of the idea or innovations that they crafted is the 40 old samsung galaxy s5 smartphones turned into a mining rig that can collect cryptocurrencies.

It is said that eight samsung galaxy s5 smartphones performs much better than a computer with an intel processor of Intel Core i7 2600.

This is a really good idea for old smartphones only, the ones that you are not using anymore not the ones that you usually used in everyday for communication purposes. I also tried before, I think one month ago mining through my phone as there are already mining apps in google playstore and it drains your battery quicker that when you are gaming. So I recommend that use only old smartphones if you want to mine cryptocurrencies.

The C-Lab also showcased or presented different innovation projects for reusing old samsung smartphones. One of this is they turn the old Samsung Galaxy tablet into an Ubuntu-Powered Laptop. Then the old Galaxy s3 now can be used as a fish tank monitor and lastly an old samsung smartphone turned to a some kind of watchdog for security purposes.

"This innovative platforms provides an environmentally responsible way for old Samsung mobile devices to breathe new life, providing new possibilities & potential added value for the devices that might be forgotten in drawers"

I think this can be very helpful in a lot of ways you can still earn money by using old smartphones and the same time you relieve some stress in waste management. So I think this idea from C-Lab or Samsung's engineering team will promote environmental friendly used for owners of old samsung galaxy devices. You not only help yourself but helped the nature as well. And its a great way to earn cryptocurrencies as well.
