Psoliagkos - Ψωλιαγκος
...so...it was @trumpman who gave me the 'push' to write an article about something so weird as... ψωλιαγκος-psoliagkos ...
...well the name doesn't make any sense in English but when we say Ψωλιαγκος-psoliagkos in Greek we mean what the rest of the world knows as 'sea cucumber' ...
...'ψωλιαγκος'-'psoliagkos' also known as 'Πουτσογυαλος'-'poutsogialos' or 'αγγουρι της θαλασσας'-'sea cucumber' or even 'sea rat'-'αρουραιος της θαλασσας' according to the Chinese version , is a genus of marine animals actually known as Holothuria to the scientific community...
....they are soft bodied,limbless and inhabit the sea floor...you can find them in various places around the world but you need tropical climate (most of the times) and shallow waters no more than 20 meters in depth...Japan,China,Sri-Lanka, Northen Australia ,Indonesia as well as Greece is some of the places this creature spends its time
...now please don't be modest and don't give me any dirty thoughts...its skin is smooth and its length can reach 30cm...it usually comes on a dark reddish-black color on its upper side and a pinkish-mauve below...i'm not joking this is what scientists say,its not my words!!!

...Psoliagkos -Ψωλιαγκος has separate sexes! and spawns with gametes which are being liberated into the water...it can also reproduce itselsf asexually by breaking into two parts, each of which then regrows the missing organs -(help me God)-
...someone may wonder....can we eat it??...the answer is yes...definitely!!!...we can eat ψωλιαγκο-psoliagkos... but let me mention that you can eat it if you can afford to pay for it as it can reach 1100 euros per kilo....
...you can also use it as bait if you like fishing..they say it's a very very good bait and fish like it very much!!!
...i don't want to let myself be misunderstood from the steemit community,my interest in Psoliagkos- Ψωλιαγκο is scientific and for general knowledge purposes ONLY...
...a tip for my Greek friends...οσοι απο εσας βρισκεστε στη Βορειο Ελλαδα μπορειτε να βρειτε αμετρητους ψωλιαγκους στην περιοχη Βουρβουρου της Χαλκιδικης...υπαρχουν σημεια που ειναι γεματα απο δαυτους!!!...μιλαω κυριολεκτικα δεν ειναι υπονοουμενο αυτο που λεω για 'βρωμικες' σκεψεις...

from wikipedia . I guess it is only a part of their guts / respiratroy system which is somehow mixed
Defense
Some species of coral reef sea cucumbers defend themselves by expelling sticky cuvierian tubules to entangle potential predators. These tubules are attached to the respiratory tree in the gut. When startled, these cucumbers may expel the tubules through a tear in the wall of the cloaca. In effect, this squirts sticky threads all over a predator. Replacement tubules grow back in one-and-a-half to five weeks, depending on the species.

Haha I wrote about it months ago too. Some of them are extinct and just get wasted when served to non sea cucumber eaters/lovers. Such a waste when it happens. 😣 They serve as alkaliners (if that's even a word?) of the sea and yet they are wasted by being harvested, sometimes illegally too.

We call that as bat here. I dunno why. You can also eat it raw as well. ^^
i don't think if we are talking about the same thing...i am not so sure that you can eat it raw..there is a procedure you must put it through in order to get it ready to eat it

I wonder if catfish are as terrified by sea cucumbers like real cats are terrified of regular cucumbers .
