The Great Oblivion – Intro

I never thought of myself as the last standing human, but here I am spending what seems like an eternity, all by myself, looking over this desolated planet once called Earth. All those extraordinary things that took the world by surprise were inevitable, I suppose. We talked about those possibilities and even prepared ourselves for such scenarios, but when it really happened it still took us by surprise. It was very different from what we imagined. We never stood a chance.
