Automation is inevitable. It is a tool to produce abundance for little effort. However, it can leave at least 45% of human population unemployable. We need to start thinking now about what to do when large sections of the population are unemployable through no fault of their own. What to do in a future where - for most jobs - humans need not apply:

A solution could be Universal Basic Income:

More like eighty or ninety percent.
The time will come sooner than anyone is willing to admit when automation will be capable of doing ANYTHING that does not require original thought, innovation and creativity.
...and that part only once.

It ain't hard if you know how. Once the 'know how' is discovered a machine can be programmed to do it.

In fact machines can be programmed to do things that are impossible to do other wise.

The first video shows that also work requiring "original thought, innovation and creativity" will be done by AI too, eventually.
