Study Pulled After Concerns Over Black Market Organ Harvesting

in #science8 years ago (edited)

A journal recently decided to retract a study from 2016, over concerns that the data from the study might have involved organs that were sourced from prisoners who were executed in China.

The study reported on safety limitations surrounding fatty liver transplants. And the study's authors have fired back saying that such controversial organ samples were not used in their study. Despite their denial, the study was still pulled by the journal. This move came after a number of professionals reached out and wrote a letter to the editor of Liver International, alleging that the study had an absence of credible evidence demonstrating that they had used ethical sourcing for organs.

The study in question (which is linked below), was published back in Oct of 2016, in an online journal, and it had involved an analysis of about 563 liver transplants that were performed before the specific organ harvesting ban took place.

The original study and the response from the authors over the incident, are going to be published together in an upcoming issue. It will be issued along with a retraction statement and those authors of the study will now face a life-long ban from being able to submit new material to Liver International journal.

This isn't the first time that China has been slapped with allegations and criticisms of unjustified organ harvesting; they have been the target of these sorts of allegations for years. It's even alleged that the black market of organ harvesting is an appeal for “medical tourism” in the country. Just a couple of years ago the practice was specifically banned, though many believe it still occurs. And Chinese officials have previously vowed to fight the practice of corruption in the organ harvesting space, as well as medical professionals, and many others.

YES! This is what I believe will turn out to be at the root of Pizzagate. I watched a video yesterday with Ole Dammegard who said that the whole Comet Ping Pong angle may be a smokescreen to cover up what is really going on. I hate to make this comparison but...I worked at a chicken plant where we killed and processed chickens. NOTHING goes to waste. I believe that after children are ritualistically killed, they're "parted out" (please forgive the indelicate imagery). The market for organs is enormous, not only for transplants but for research as well.
