Giant prawns

Cherax Destructor

Cherax destructor is also included in the parastacidae family. One of the special characteristics of this lobster is its large sized capitals. In fact, the size is almost the same as his body. Therefore this lobster is more familiar known as destructor (the destroyer). The whole body ranges from tail to head dominated by brownish red, blue, or other colors with a length ranging from 30-50 cm with a weight of about 300-500 grams per fish.

The environment and productivity level of cherax destructor are the same as cherax quadricarianate. Within a year cherax destructor only do two marriages. In a single marriage can produce 300-150 tails. Unfortunately, this type of lobster has a high level of cannibalism. At the time of moulting female lobsters can prey on male lobsters. This is what causes not many breeders who cultivate it.
