From Richard Dawkins example, replication of thoughts, ideas and behaviour have always existed in life. Humans and animals replicate the behavior of each other. The internet has just allowed the acceleration of communication - which in turn accelerates the replicated behavior.
Memes are life. Let the best memes survive
As with darwinism, the strongest replicators will continue to replicate and survive. Which memes will survive over the years and become the dominant gene.. err I mean MEME!
