The USA is Producing Only 2% of It's Needed Uranium, with about 100 Nuclear Plants Running.

in #science6 years ago

Uranium production and uses:

Uranium is primarily used to produce fuel for nuclear power plants (more than 99% of total use).

Other uses of uranium (less than 1%) include the production of medical isotopes and fuel for research reactors.

Canadian production of uranium was 14 kilotonnes in 2016. All uranium comes from mines in Saskatchewan and has an annual value of approximately $2 billion

Amir Adnani, CEO of UEC, sits down in the below video interview, to discuss the future of uranium mining with uranium prices currently at $21 a pound.

"I think people in the U.S., especially U.S. buyers of uranium, which represent a quarter of the market, are somewhat frozen out," Adnani told Kitco News on the sidelines of the PDAC 2018, in the video resource, just below in this post.

Wow, science rocks. So sad Africa has not much say in Nuclear Sciences.

I think blockchain is going to help the poorest places in the world, in many ways..... my hope is that anyways.

Amen o. I hope as much too.

Great article. Here in the U.S., large areas (including Bear's Ears National Monument) were recently opened for uranium mining.

Anyone can "stake a claim" by hammering 4 stakes into the ground, thus establishing a plot of land.

Additional mining is not feasible however. Current uranium prices do not support further production.

Good reply here.

I really was able to gather some info quickly today but some of what I found kinda shocked me a bit for sure.

And that is with everything I already know about every sector of gov't / corruption and related.
