The Overton Window. How They Make us Tolerant to Amoral and Weird Things on the Example of Pedophilia.
Perhaps everyone has felt and known deeply inside that it is happening. When first there are things we can not accept, then we start to think maybe we are bad and not tolerant enough not accepting those things and finally we accept it. Now in Europe the legalization processes of pedophilia, incest are being completed. Some of them have already been completed like drugs, prostitution, abortion etc.
Have you ever heard about The Overton Window? According to Joseph Overton's conception every idea, the most amoral and weird, can be accepted by the society and even legalized. I have read an article how cannibalism could become normal.
And on my own example of pedophilia, one of the most unimaginable issues at this time, it is not difficult to track how weird things become normal and legalized.
First stage: Discussions
In the beginning the topic of pedophilia is not acceptable and disgusting. It is not even being discussed and it looks absurd. It is necessary to transfer this topic from unimaginable to radical. We need to start discussing it and it could be a conference called "Pedophilia in the History of mankind".
At the same time together with science discussion a group of radical pedophiles shall show up which will be widely discussed in mass media. For a short while in Holland even a political party was formed to represent pedophiles.
So, there are pedophiles who are acceptable and there are bad pedophiles. There is not only white and black but also grey.
Second stage: Why not?
The next step is to transfer it from radical to possible. People start to discuss it as if you don't do that you will be considered as not tolerant. Then they change the name. There is no pedophilia anymore as it sounds insulting, it will be pederosis and child love later.
At the same time with the words game they will find "evidence" when pedophilia will be legitimized. Like, for example, in the history of ancient Greeks and Romans where sexual relations between adults and children were quite common and Greece and Rome being the basis of western culture who are we to criminalize it?
Nowadays in the many Islamic countries sexual relations between men and boys are quite common as girls cannot lose their virginity before marriage so a boy will be a surrogate lover. American soldiers have witnessed and complained about the practice of many Afghan soldiers and policemen to bring boys onto their base to be used as sex partners.
Third stage: moving toward rational
Weird and absurd things are becoming rational. For example, wanting sex is in human nature, sometimes there are obstacles when for instance no women are available so it is necessary to have sex with children, free people have choice who to have sex with etc.
They provoke a fight between radical supporters and radical enemies. Radical enemies become mad psychopaths, aggressive fascists who call for the destruction of pedophiles, communists etc. At the same time journalists and "scientists" prove that pedophilia is normal human behavior.
Fourth stage: popularization
To popularize it they support it with the content about historical and mythological characters and possibly with modern media persons. The idea of pedophilia penetrates into TV. People have sex with kids in movies, songs and clips.
One of the methods of popularization is to mention famous people who all their lives were pedophiles. Then to justify these people they say:" He is a creative person. Yes. He had sex with children and so what?". "They love their victims sincerely. To have sex means to love."

Fifth stage: legalization
They start to prepare a legislative base. They publish social tests to confirm a high percentage of pedophilia supporters. Society is broken and admits defeat.
The next generation might even not know that it was absurd and abnormal.

Very scary stuff. The other thing to consider is the conditioning of children to accept such perverted behaviour as normal. I find it very interesting that we were just discussing Disney on my post and then I have a stalk of your blog only to uncover this. Disney have been sexualising children for decades now using subliminal messaging and the agenda behind it always eluded me. Perhaps this is the missing piece of the puzzle..

Sometimes I feel like it is going in the opposite direction from what you describe though. As time has went on the laws have gotten stricter as far as age of consent and things of that nature.
I wish you were right. But what I see it is working very well especially in Europe.
Michael was found Not Guilty and many people believe his innocence and will find his inclusion in your post offensive. Maybe change his photo for that of a confirmed paedophile?

I'm glad I'm not the only person who sees this happening, but that absolutely terrifies me at the same time. I have no children of my own but my sisters have seven kids between them, and my close friends have many between them.
