A PERPETUAL LIMBO

What's more than fear was what she was going through, she couldn't find a possible explanation of how she found herself in the deep forest. She could vividly remembered that it was the celebration of her 12th birthday and she was having fun with her family. Though her family couldn't afford the most affluent kind of celebration but they did something little for her, she was about cutting the cake when she saw herself in a forest and worst of it all, lost in the dark. She could hear voices around her, her body shivered in fear. She saw a man with a horn coming close to her, she was panting so fast, her breathing practically ceased when she was drawn back by someone. She looked and it was a little girl like her but a bit bigger than she is. The stranger covered her mouth to prevent"" her from speaking until the monstrous man left.

The little girl questioned her, "who are you and how did you get here ?" She spoke stammering... " I'm Maria and I can't explain how I got here, all I know was that it was my birthday and I was with my family, next I found myself here." The little girl spoke, "I'm Trigan, I was born and brought up here in the woods, my mother was banished when she was pregnant into the forest and she gave birth to me here. Don't ask about my mother because she was eaten two years ago by those monsters." Next, they saw a great wind blowing towards them with chanting of voices. Trigan held on her tightly and they both ran off. Getting to a place more safer Maria was panting so hard that Trigan beckoned on her to stop for the monsters may hear her sound. Maria looked and she saw a beast that was up to 12feet tall, the beast was devouring an infant. He harvested the infant's skull and started eating it. It was really a gory site to behold and she closed her eyes in fear. She heard Trigan voice saying "He is gone let me take you to my home it's a lot safer there than here, the monsters are unable to get there. She followed Trigan as she led the way.

They got to a hut and Trigan beckoned on her to enter inside which she did. After entering she discovered she was inside a cage, she looked outside and saw Trigan kneeling before a rock saying "Master, I found a meal." The man with the horn she saw earlier emerged from the rock.

She was so afraid when Trigan spoke to her. I'm Trigan and this is the master of the forest whom I owe my loyalty as she portrayed before the man with a horn. Trigan's appearance changed as she spoke and her skin became all white, her teeth was now five times longer.
A group of five monsters came in.. They all sat down drinking from a keg of blood which was passed from the master.
The master spoke "Someone get us a meat to fill our stomach, we can't be hungry when there are alot of meals in the cage. A beast rose up and opened the cage looking at everyone, Maria trembled with fear. The monster took a woman and brought her to the master, the woman was screaming in pains, they all laughed wickedly. Trigan cut the woman's head and gave it to the master and the rest of them used their long sharp teeth to devour her body.
Tears flowed down Maria's eyes as she sat down in a particular section in the cage.

An old man reaches out to her;

"Brace up yourself because if the day breaks and you are still here you won't return home, you will end up here and certainly die in the real world. I can read your heart, it's afraid and longing for it's loved ones. Your family misses you and are hoping you return soon." Maria was calm reminiscing what the old man had just told her, she wanted to ask questions but decided not to.

Trigan opened the cage and said we need a fresh blood and you are the youngest and freshest available she pointed to Maria. Maria was walking out of the cage when the old man told her again "Remember, save yourself" . She stepped out and started running, she got to a destination and saw a lion in her front she turned back and behold she saw the man with a horn. She was torn between both and when she opened her eyes, she discovered she was in her hospital bed. Her brother screamed "Mum, she is awake." She was later told by her family that she fainted when she was about to cut her birthday cake and have been unconscious for hours now. A man stepped into the room and her Dad addressed him as a doctor. Maria looked and behold it was the man with a horn she let out a scream "NO!!!"
