Scar Story Contest — Alcohol & fences don't mix.
The Scar
The scar is located on my right arm, just above the elbow bend, and I got it some 15 or 17(?) years ago. I don't remember. Since there were two graduations, one after 9 years in school, and another after 11. The scar was inflicted on me by my alcohol fueled stupidity, as well as a really tall fence. And Mistress gravity, who is indeed a heatless bitch. Like all such scars it has a mildly amusing story behind it. I suspect that more than a few of stories like this happen on school graduation days.
The Story
So, it is the graduation day, and we have this big party, something like that "The Prom" in the US. But it is just a discotheque in the school, although by that point our school has some really cool events, lazers, good PA systems, the whole shebang. Lots of fun, but only one BIG problem. Widespread ban on alcohol on campus, as well as locking the perimeter during the event. Yeah, most of us are considered minors at that point, so it is quite understandable of them.
You'll have to remember, that schools ARE prisons, hence the fence. ;) Or maybe that is not the reason, since there was a lot unpleasantness at the time with some terror bombings in schools, so a lot fences were erected, and security staff added for good measure. You know, standard "War on Terror" fare, it is profitable ont only in USA, but in other places.
We have a good company of people that would like to have a drink, but are locked out by the fence. And it is not just any fence, it is quite tall and has those sharp pikes on top. I think they didn't go with razorwire, because that would be hard to sneak past our parents. ;-)
By this point you probably know where this is going, but nevertheless I still have to finish the story. It is easy to climb out, there is this one corner where there are dumpsters, and a parking garage that is near the fence, so you easily climb them, and you are free. On other hand, getting back in is much harder.
Interlude to Check the Place for Yourself
Being the adventurous type I go, with some of my similarly foolhardy friends. We pool money, climb outside, go to the shop, which is about 15 minutes away.
If you'd like to, you can take a tour on Google street view.
It is impossible to find a shop that sells booze using it now, I think. So you should try finding the metro station, there were some shops there, back in the day.
While you were fiddling with the tour app, we young guys were able to get our hands on the beer, and walk back to the fence. As well as drink some of the stuff, for easier transportation. ;-)
The Stupidity
The same route is not an option, so we try another place. And due to intoxication and clumsiness I impale my arm on one of those pikes. Here would be a good place for that stock photo of a kitten "Keep Hanging on Meme", but we had nothing of the sort at the time. Took internet a while to mutate into the rabid memeland.
Anyhow, I clumb down, still outside. Disinfect with the beer (We had those strong Amsterdam Navigators, and Maximators on hand), and from the second try get inside. There is a bit of blood, and I lose a bit of meat, but hopefully it allows future me, to win something in the contest! :-D
I do have some other cool scars, and even cooler stories to go with them, but I'll probably save them for later. Either the post about shamanism, and smithing cult, or maybe another such contest. Besides, I don't think it counts if I no longer bear those scars, and let me tell you that scarring on your tongue heals real quick. But the taste of red hot iron was totally worth it. ;-)
This is a great post. Thanks for sharing! I should tell my buddy about this contest... he almost had his entire leg cut off on the side of one of those above ground pools about 15 years ago... took like 300 stitches and the scar looks narly!
Thank you. I've done some soul searching in those five days, that I've abstained from posting my stuff to Steemit, and decided that I'll have to up my game, or I'll never be able to buy the farm with my hard earned Steems, or anything like that (like a better camera), because I won't be making any. Will just have to continue keeping the bar on the level of this post. :-)
Even if it doesn't earn me much, it is already actually doing much better than my other stuff, since it got its first comment on the 10 minute mark, which never happened before.
As for your friends story, do get him to participate, I'll be looking forward to reading his story!
TELL YOUR BUDDY @jrcornel!
Excellent Entry - 4 days left!
Yeah, I am sitting on a ton of posts, that are yet to pass the muster, and I decide, hmm, I have to post something, I remember promising to do the contest post! :-D
