How to determine if the website is legit and not fake

As a beginner, I've tried a lot of online surveys panel, and even those sites that pay money with every task that you will do by inviting or referring etc. And sometimes I just waste my time and yet I can't get my payout. That's why everytime I will join or register to a site I always follow this steps on how to determine if the site is legit or fake. And I will share it with you fellow steemian.

  1. Type the website's name into a search engine and review the results.
If the site in question is a hazard (or simply an overwhelmingly illegitimate site), a cursory Google check will be enough to inform you accordingly.
Google tends to compile user reviews of high-traffic sites near the top of the search results, so be sure to check these if there are any.
Make sure you're looking at reviews and feedback from sources unaffiliated with the website.
The Domain Name – A lot of fraudulent websites will use a domain name similar to a brand name. I have seen fake sites related to Calvin Klein, Nike, Buffalo, and more recently, Salomon. These domain names might be www.nikesuperdiscounts or www.buffalocollection or www.salomonshop (these are not real sites, but examples). If a company has a trademark on their name, their website usually matches the company name.

  2. Look at the website's connection type.
A website that has an "https" tag is usually more secure--and therefore more trustworthy--than a site using the more common "http" designation. This is because "https" sites' security certification is a process most illegitimate sites don't bother with.
A site that uses an "https" connection can still be unreliable, so it's best to verify the website using other means as well.
Make sure the site's payment page in particular is an "https" page.

3.Check the site's security status in your browser's address bar.
For most browsers, a "safe" website will display a green padlock icon to the left of the website's URL.
You can click on the padlock icon to verify the details of the website (e.g., the type of encryption used).

4.Use the website's "Contact" page.
Most sites provide a Contact page so that users can send questions, comments, and concerns to the owner of the site. If you can, call or email the provided number or email address to verify the legitimacy of the website.
Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom of the site to search for the Contact page.
If the site in question doesn't have a Contact page listed anywhere, it should be an immediate red flag.
No Contact Information – If the website does not have a contact us page, or it if does and it only offers a form to fill out, this is a strong indicator of fraud. Any company offering products or services, should have a place of business (location) as well as a phone number and email to contact them. If none of this information is available, then they likely just want your credit card info.

5.Test the Contact Information –
If the website does list contact information, call, write or email the site, using their contact details, to check if it works. If you get an automatic voice messaging system, the number is not in service, or no one answers during business hours, then exercise caution.

That’s the list that i know if you guys have other information please comment below for us to be aware and for those who are beginner like me.
