RE: SCAM WARNING! Watch out for Comments by steem-reporter! PHISHING ALERT

in #scam6 years ago

Thanks for the call out. I've had a bunch of phishing links today...thankfully didn't get caught out. Seems like there's more lately....

Sort:

They do seem to be getting more frequent and varied. I fear it will only get worse after HF.20 kicks in, which will make account creation easier... with many thousands of new accounts per day, the crooks will also intensify their efforts. It's a shame.

I kinda like that account creation is tough...but if the platform is going to grow. I guess that has to change. Perhaps there will have to be more management from steemit inc...or removal of links from comments or something...

I agree with you on that one; but unless the manual approval process currently in place is considerably streamlined, it will turn into an obstacle to any kind of mainstream adoption of Steemit as a content platform-- people expect "instant gratification."

I had thought of maybe a "probation period;" the infrastructure is already in place with resellers like "anonsteem" — 30 days up front during which an account CAN be deleted by...? Maybe an agreement of at least 3 or 5 witnesses? If someone does something damaging to the community... like commit fraud or attempt to.
