Hi there...

For newcomers, this should be read in the following order:

  1. ☠️BEWARE!!! Linkedin boosted 💲CAM!
  2. ☠️BEWARE!!! Linkedin boosted 💲CAM! - Finally some proof! 🎉
  3. This post!

I finally got a "more decent" reply from Blockchain.com (still, not the kind of person I wished to talk.. but hey, they are doing their job). They have not yet done all the due diligence, but I think that at least they got afraid of the fact they "could be accused" of mining in their business. Either way, they must be checking stuff as we speak, I hope. Although the LinkedIn profiles I mentioned before still persist. It must be something hard for LinkedIn to remove because they might make all tricks to delay them.

Blockchain.com did not confirm that they worked for blockchain.com, but also did not confirm they have had a look at them.

If you would like to check them:

The truth

Here is the email reply from blockchain.com about my exposure to the problem:

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the experience you've had. Very unfortunately, scammers as of late have been taking advantage of users new to the cryptocurrency space and their potential lack of knowledge about private keys, as well as some of our wallet's features. Our wallet can NOT be used for mining, and should NEVER be purchased, created or accessed by a third party. Any person or party claiming otherwise should be considered malicious and avoided. If another party has EVER had access to the wallet then it should be considered unsafe and never used to store fund. This is because any funds added to or stored within such a wallet could still be compromised using its Recovery Phrase, despite any changes made to the password or two factor authentications enabled.

Please be aware, within our wallet a public bitcoin address can be imported into the wallet as 'Watch Only or Non-spendable funds'. This can be done with absolutely any address on the entire bitcoin network. This feature is often used by those who may have paper wallets, or addresses stored within other wallets as a way to still see and track funds without actually importing the bitcoin address's Private Key into our wallet. The balance of addresses imported as 'Watch Only or Non-spendable funds', will show as part of the wallet's main balance. However, without the private key to this address these funds are non-spendable.

  • A private key is a string of data that shows you have access to bitcoins in a specific address. Think of a private key like a password specific to each address. Private keys are generated, and stored within the wallet which was used to create the bitcoin address. Private keys must never be shared, as they allow the owner to spend the bitcoins from the associated bitcoin address through its cryptographic signature.

Without a private key, you do not have ownership of an address or access to any funds it may contain. Scammers have been using this feature in a malicious manner to trick those unaware of how private keys work, and their requirement for sending funds.

Unfortunately, the bitcoin network is designed to make chargeback and forwarding actions by a third party impossible. Blockchain never has access or control of a users' bitcoin, or others' addresses in any way. This means we have no power to stop, reverse, or initiate a transaction on anyone’s behalf. I'm sorry to say but there is little recourse for situations such as this. There is no ownership or contact information associated with any given bitcoin address. Investigation and legal action is often more costly than the offense itself due to the highly complicated and international nature of bitcoin. I'm sorry again that we don't have an amiable solution for you in this matter, but again, please help us prevent it from happening to others by providing any contact information you can.

Thank you,

What can you do about it?

You can either report or ignore them, I think. I faced them for some time, but to be honest, I can't sustain that kind of effort forever by myself (they live for this stuff...). Even if I would really like to make my position.

Plus, I have other things I think I can be more useful for (time and skills wise).

Are you giving up?

Not at all. Just making my point that I am not doing or showing this is my life. If I have to report someone because of fake activity, I will. But this is not my directed obligation (should be everyone in fact... but for another time and topic).

LinkedIn

I have reported both users with my profile, but from what I see publicly, they are still around. If they really can prove who they are, they will be able to comment to any of you with enough proof. Which I doubt, but hey, I could be wrong. Who knows...

Making it plain and simple, I don't like them. Not because they tried to convince me with profits that even true (I could make those profits, but not working for "them"), would never ensure the blockchain security that brought the entire value of the process. Making it irrelevant to even mine it!

Thanks!

Hope everyone reading this, can at least have a second line of sight when "trusting" on social networks profiles. This is not limited to LinkedIn unfortunately, it's an everywhere problem... even in real life!

Therefore is so imperative to develop a way to make identity a secure truth!

NOTE: If anyone reports them, can you leave a note in this post, on when you did that? Just thought it might be handy to justify something to LinkedIn in case they come back to me.
