If We Are Going To Add Measures To Keep SBD Pegged, Now Might Be The Time

in #sbd7 years ago

Hey everyone,

So a member I respect on here @timcliff is pushing to get a hardfork going so we can make SBD truly pegged to a dollar. He is a hard-working talented programmer and you should check out his page. This hardfork would add measures to make sure the coin stays at a dollar which was the reason it was made in the first place. If we are going to do it, now might be the best time before the price goes up again. And yes we might be in a bear market but things can turn any minute.

On one of his posts I mentioned the idea of letting SBD grow as it would give the users two coins of value. He made the good point of why having it at all at that point and just use steem. If we can get the coin pegged to a dollar it would be a big deal. Look how important tether is. Plus we really don't need SBD for anything else other than it being a pegged currency. I was thinking we could do something with it to increase its value but with SMTs coming, we have other coins to take on any tasks we want to. So the only two options might be peg it or get rid of it.

This is not my area of expertise but if we are going to make a change I think we should consider it now while the coin is at a dollar. There might not be a better time.

What do you think?

Yes I think aswell it would really help if we get SBD pegged to 1$
BUT

Wouldn't it just be SO cool if we had 2 currencies bouncing up and down ?

Shit! I should have sold all my sbd! Now I'm bag holding lol

Can't see why it wouldn't be a good idea, sort of a ustether for Steem. You're right about doing it while it's close to a dollar. There aren't many uses for it anyways just another coin in a sea of many

I think also this, what you thinked :)

If I had a nickel for everytime I saw a girl as beautiful as you I would now have 5 cents.

I'd rather get rid of it entirely, but if we're going to keep ourselves tied to USD we should at least do it effectively. I like the two-directional trade plan and I think putting it in place asap is a good idea.

Can you explain in detail how it would work? I mean sounds like something minnows will have no control over outside of voting for witnesses.

But them, if SBD stay pegged, can steem keep bouncing?

Honestly, I don't see why it is necessary. The value should always be pushed towards $1 worth of steem based on the way the rewards mechanism works. While the goal is to have SBD worth about $1 worth of steem, that's not its entire purpose.
