With this announcement post we draw the curtains on the fifth edition of Sankofa Creative Competition. The last week we had a record seven (7) entries.

  1. In a style now reminiscent of @madmaxfury, who is steadily laying claims on the revered title of "Africa's storyteller", we got to know of the Igbo proverb that says "Tragedy Can Bring Low Even the Mighty." Max accompanied this with yet another epic story to drive home the lessons of that ancient sage. How this guy manages to do it is one we ought to learn a thing or two from. MUST READ.

  2. Notorious tortoise got it the hard way what the Yoruba proverb admonishes, that "no one is an island of knowledge". Find out more in @dante31's beautifully laid out entry.

  3. "He That Has Grown Must Watch Others Do The Same," says the Igbo proverb as shared by @edumurphy. If you think this proverb only highlights the healthy apprentice-empowerment culture that we know to be characteristic of the men from the east, then let this masterfully crafted drama by Edu force you to have a rethink. This one is perfection. Spoiler: It is a long read, but worth every ink and keyboard stroke spent to create it. Read it here.

  4. @steempowerbot shared three (yes! you heard that... THREE) proverbs in this debut entry.

  5. Wonderkid @tezzmax challenges us to be bold enough to stop and reconsider the paths we chose that don't seem to work out. He did this through a Yoruba proverb that deserves a worthy mention. Great work.

  6. Never never count your chicks before they lay, advised the "teen with steem" through a Yoruba proverb that contextually translated as "He who laughs last laughs best." Very good stuff.

  7. I intentionally left this one for the end of the curation. @Ewuoso's proverb says "never give up no matter what you are facing." Those are lessons derived from a Yoruba proverb that translates as, "If While Riding A Horse It Throws Us Away, We Re-Ride it.

AND THE WINNERS ARE...

The winner of 5 SBD judged by popular votes on entry comment is @ewuoso's entry.
The winner of 10 SBD as selected by the reviewers is @edumurphy's entry.
CONGRATULATIONS guys for taking the round!!!

As is norm, EVERYONE who participated goes back with a prize, this time 1 SBD each.

a. Entries will be submitted as comments on this post.

b. Judging will factor in the amount of votes your entry comment gets. We advice you attach a little blurb with your link to attract people to open, read and decide if to vote for you. One person can only vote upto two entries that aren't theirs.

c. Prize pool is guaranteed 20 SBD. 10 SBD for the best entry according to the reviewers, and 5 SBD for the popular choice decided by votes. 5 SBD + Liquid value of this post to be shared among EVERYONE else who enters.

Alright, guys. Without much ado, go ye into the shrines, under the baobab and iroko trees, into the moonlight, to the company of grandpa, and bring us those folk stories. Pay seven cowries if you need to. See you in seven days. Steem on.
