Some African Proverb and their origin

Hello steemians, here is a contest by @sankofa , decided to enter it in a new way stating some African Proverbs. Our people believe a man with great knowledge of Proverbs is a man of great wisdom. Not because of how matching it is but because of it wise words about life and outcomes of our actions. Proverbs

In the city of the blind, the man with one eye will be king -Nigeria

You suffer from the smoke produced by the firewood you fetch yourself -East African Proverb

Only when you have crossed the river, can you say the crocodile has a lump on his snout -Ghanian

One person may kill an elephant but the whole community may share it -Ashanti

You only become wise by learning good things - Ashanti

A tree is straightened while it is still young -Burundi

A man does in the open, a woman indoors - Uganda

The bridge is repaired only when someone falls in the water

The river swells from the little streams - Bateke

Until the snake is dead, do not drop the stick

Who has shoes does not fear thorns -Ewe

An empty sack cannot stand - Mandingo

A son will be what he was taught -Swahili

If you want to lean on a tree, first make sure it can hold you - ambede

Without effort,no harvest will be abundant - burundian

A kitten can catch only a baby mouse

A rat says, what belongs to me is in my stomach and not in my mouth - akan tribe proverb

A wise man who knows proverb reconcile difficulties
