In South Korea, an attempt was made to register the Samsung Coin trademark without the corporation's knowledge

in #samsung5 years ago

The South Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) has received an application from Kim Nem-Jin for registration of the Samsung Coin trademark in English and Korean, but it has nothing to do with the likely original initiative of the technology corporation.

The application was filed in the category related to computer programs. How exactly does its designer intend to use blockchain or cryptocurrency is not specified in it. Earlier in the network there was information that Samsung is developing its own blockchain based on Ethereum technology and can use it to produce digital currency.

"We don't work like this," the company's representative commented on the questionable application.

Previously, Nem-Jin had tried to register trademarks related to the work of large technology companies in the field of cryptocurrencies. On July 10, he applied to KIPO for registration of the ThinQ Wallet trademark. On July 2, applications for the same trademark in South Korea and the United States were filed by LG Electronics.

According to LG's application, the wallet will be used to provide various mobile services, including "blockchain software platform" and "mobile electronic wallet for cryptocurrencies".
