Electrical hazard is a situation where a person gets in contact with electrical conductors and then sustains injury from it. Examples of electrical hazard are burns, explosion, fire, falls and shocks. An electrical shock is received when electrical current passes through the body. Also, an individual will receive a shock only when the body completes a circuit.

The severity of shocks sustained from electrical hazards can be determined through the path of current through the body, amount of current flowing through the body and the duration. Some of the ways by which we can control electrical hazards includes:

You should never work on life electrical wires or parts. Before working on an electrical appliance, you should partially, zonally or totally isolate the circuit connection.

Always practice the lockout / tagout. The lockout involves locking every electrical circuit with a lock and restricting access to it. While tagging involves tagging giving names to the locks so as to identify them.

Don't interfere with electrical fittings, don't overload electrical outlets, don't tap electrical power without a proper plug.
