We have all discussed how life is about loving and giving. Now, this is another one we want to consider: Life Is About Sacrifice.

Life is about sacrifice. Economics would say for opportunity cost: alternative forgone in order to satisfy one’s want. Life is about sacrifice. You can’t go on without some level of sacrifice and the degree to which and what we sacrifice is the one that differs.

Parents sacrifice their resources and some even put their life on hold just for their children. A friend sacrifices his or her time just to be there for another person. Some part with their resources just to make another person comfortable or better. Some sacrifice their life in act of service. Soldiers obey the clarion call to defend their country and put their life on the line so we can all enjoy some level of comfort. A mother sacrifices her perfect body to bring forth another life. A mother jumps into the fire just to protect her daughter. A father raised her daughter so well and at one point he decides to let go of his daughter into another man’s hand, and as he did this, he is watching all his toils and labour go into another man. A mother sacrifices her time, life, and career just to keep her home. I can go on and on and on.

I read a story recently about a mother with severe burns that disfigured her face. Every time she visits her daughter in school, this daughter is always ashamed to have her mother around. The mother got fed up one day and decided to lecture her daughter about how it came about.

She told her the house was on fire and even the firemen advised against her going inside but her daughter was inside. She defied the voice of reason and ran inside. She saved her only daughter and passed it out to the firemen who took the baby as she threw her out. She was stuck inside but managed to find an entry and pushed through amidst the wildfire before collapsing on the porch. That was how she got her burns that this daughter is now ashamed of.

When we sacrifice our time and resources for others, it should be our choice. It should be our conviction. It should be our decision and not something we are cajoled into and this is why this post is to make you understand and not too coarse you into seeing things this way. I always say I can’t teach anyone anything, I can only make people think. We are all learning as we are living.

Once we know life is all about sacrifice, it would make not feeling bad for ourselves easier, and because we sacrificed so much for others doesn’t mean that they will understand it or appreciate it. It is not a guarantee but be content that you did all you needed to do. You can live with that and let them live with theirs.

...to be continued...

Thank you for your time.

My neighbor wake me up in the middle of the night yesterday. I quickly rushed out to answered her because it has never happened like that before. He told me his wife is ready for labour and we have to help him to take her to the hospital.

Sometimes, our sacrifice is necessary and important. we don't need to worry about whether it pays back or not.

The mother did very well by telling her that story. Sometimes, people we sacrificed for wouldn't appreciated it until they realized the mystery behind it.

We are all doing sacrifice in one way or the other. You sacrifice for being patient when there is conflict between you and your wife or husband. Everybody do but the range of sacrifice is differ as you said.

Thanks @communitycoin and @olawalium for sharing..

Yes, the sacrifice might differ but the bottom line is, it must cost us something. Life is about sacrifice. We don't need to be too comfortable and focus on oneself all the time. We need to stretch. A little bit of "discomfort" to make another comfortable goes a long way. It is not limited to material things alone and people need to understand this.

Thanks a lot...really appreciate this.

You are absolutely right, like my pastor used to say, if your offering did not cost you anything from what you have. Then it means you are not paying offerings. Same thing applicable to sacrifice too. Whatever sacrifice we made to the others that cost us nothing is not a good one.

Absolutely brother. You nailed it right there.

Love has a price, that lrocess is always sacrifial. Remember, whatever we give or do that costs us nothing is not sacrifice.

As a child, my mother thought me what true sacrifice was. She made me give out my boat clothes and toys to other kids. As I grew up, I began to understand the principle of sacrifice.

What a wonderful mother she is. Sacrifice needs to be learned early on and most relationships that crash are in some parts due to lack of sacrifice on the part of the lovers. Everyone wants their comfort and even relationship is about sacrifice, more so, life.

Remember, whatever we give or do that costs us nothing is not sacrifice.

You nailed it right there brother. Wise...really wise!.

Thanks a lot for this. I enjoyed it bro.
