Running Project - Richmond Run to the River
I’m in Richmond tonight and got out for an evening run and walk. I ended up with three miles running and then a two mile cooldown walk. It is a gorgeous evening here with temps in the 70s. And there were just enough clouds in the sky to make my cool down walk a great opportunity for sunset pictures along the James River with my iPhone X. The panorama below is my favorite for the night.
I started up on Broad Street near the convention center and worked my way down to Shockoe Slip and the into the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood.
I passed the Historic Richmond train station and got a shot of its clock tower as I passed. If you ever drive north on interstate 95 through Richmond, you’ll recognize the clock tower because it is at the same height as the highway overpass that cuts through downtown.
I continued up through Shockoe Bottom and cut down through the warehouse condos and apartments that line the river now. It would be a cool place to live.
As I got down to the trail that runs along the canal, a train was moving slowly along the trestle that parallels the trail.
I hit three miles when I got to Brown’s Island, so I started my cooldown walk just as the sun was getting low in the sky. I walked out on the T-Pot Bridge to cool down and watch the sunset.
Looking west upriver was a colorful sight as the sun set below the horizon.
No need to be a masochist to run well... but a bit of pain could make you stronger. ;)
