Fifty runs till May #32 ... the hardest one till now!
Winter is here and also on my running path. Unfortunately, neither of my neighboors could join me today, so I had to set off on my own. If it wasn't difficult enough to motivate myself in these wintery conditions, the circumstances made it even more difficult. I don't know what was more difficult looking out for icy-patches or running through 30cm high snow.
A little pond in the snow forrest
- Weather: -1 degree, felt like -3 according to my Garmin. Conditions were also made more difficult due to snow and ice
- Distance: 11 kilometers
- Time: 1 hour and 14 minutes
- Pace: 6:46 min/km
- Training Effect: 4,4 = Highly Improving
Due to the conditions on the ground, I was very careful and slow today. In the beginning on the asphalt patches, there was some ice. But running in the snow was much more difficult and when I did have parts where the snow changed into asphalt again, it felt like running on pillows. At some parts I had to walk through the snow or run on the tips of my toes, this was hard and I did hurt myself quite a few times, but nothing severly. I took some pictures today to give you an impression of todays circumstances. It was beautiful, but the hardest run I've done so far.
A stunning view, once I cleared the first part of the forrest
Crossing a little stream that runs through the forrest, I was greeted with this amazing view
A little uphill climb, the worst is right around the bend in the distance
Absolutely stunning, but so difficult to manoever when you're running in it
How beautiful is that? Here I had to walk, there was no way to run through snow that thick and not injure myself and it takes a lot of energy to run through that, so a moderate pace is really welcome at this point
Maybe this gives you an idea of what i was running through
One more, just because I love the view
A mid-run selfie, I shot a series of pictures so that I could choose one picture that was pretty stable and decent
This run really epitomises what this challenge is all about. No excuse for anyone to stay on the sofa, but I can't blame you if you do with these conditions.
Let's keep it up!

Motivation: No excuses. Awesome pictures as well. Thank you for the effort
Thanks! My thoughts exactly. I don't call myself an athlete, but to remain fit you have to go out and keep it up, no matter the conditions.
I have never been to a place with snow everywhere, if you wanted to do exercises outdoors, There is no excuse for a good workout, It's up to us. The most important thing is to have the will to do it, even if the weather is not in our favor. Thanks so much for those beautiful pictures, they made travel there I enjoy how dreamy your home place could be, It has been one of my dreams to know the snow. Marry Cristmas and happy new year.
If you think this is a lot of snow, look out for my post later today. That was a Winterwonderland where I was today. Where are you from?
