Steemit Ultra Marathon – Game one – round two
With everyone off to a flying start, it's time for round two.
Check out the results from round one here.
A lot of time can be made up, or lost, on the next section so runners need to be on their game to get it right.
Runners, you need to tell me:
- How fast you intend to run – a number from 1-15 (you can use decimal places if you like e.g. 5.5)
- How many hours you intend to run for – a number from 1-2 (you can use a decimal for partial hours e.g. 1.5)
- How many energy gels you will consume – a number from 0 – however many gels you have (whole numbers only)
- If you want to rest, how long you intend to rest (in hours) – a number from 1-2 (you can use a decimal for partial hours e.g. 1.5)
Runners have until 1pm tomorrow New Zealand time, to tell me their choices. Anyone not replying in the next 24 hours will be classed as DNF (Did Not Finish).

the dust some of the other runners are kicking up might affect the breathing soon, might need a wet handkerchief to breath through soon.
The air is crystal clear back here!
At your speed, you will soon be running into the dust cloud these other big footed people are kicking up.
You never know... weird things happen on the trail!
I will lasso you as you go past and get a tow,[now that would be a weird thing to happen]
cool. Thanks. Don't worry about the dust. This is Wellington. It will either rain soon or the wind will blow it all away ;-)
Speed: 9
Run: 1.8
Rest: 0.2
Gels: 1*
our gels are all natural and organically sourced from sustainable gel trees using fair trade with the growers.
They are a complete balanced meal all in one easy to use and reusable container. We have the best gels. Ask anyone. :-)
Speed: 1
Run Time: 1.0
Rest Time: 0.2
Gels: 2
cool. Thanks
1 hour at speed 5, 1 hour at speed 10, no gels, no rest
cool. Thanks
Oh, we can split speed. Is it limited to 2 segments?
Yes please, otherwise it gets really complicated really quickly ;-)
Ideally there would be just one entry per runner, but in testing we found that I could actually make multiple entries work.
But it does mean I need to remember who has two entries and who doesn't and which ones I've processed etc.
I think if we had more than about 20 players I'd have to limit it to one entry per round, as it would take too long and be too error prone otherwise.
Speed 15, time 1 hour. 2 gels. 1 hour rest.
cool. Thanks
The real purpose isn’t to win a race. It’s to test the limits of the human heart.
