Weekend Blog: Getting Back to Running
I've just read an article from @runningproject, and I'm inspired! Here's why...
I've always known that exercising is good for the health, and a sedentary lifestyle is something we should all avoid. So I know that I need to, and I do want to, but I sadly, I haven't been able to do much exercise lately. Why? Well, work has bogged me down a lot lately, though I think this is also just an excuse... At the back of my mind, the truth is, there's no excuse to not getting fit!
Which brings me to the @runningproject initiative. I'm happy to have come across it. I really think this is absolutely a great initiative for everyone here in the Steem community. I'm guessing a lot of us probably spend a great deal of time in front of the computer. Perhaps more than we should in a day. So the @runningproject is a great reminder for people who fits the bill. You don't necessarily need to take up running, but the reminder is more on to switch to a more active lifestyle!
As for myself, I enjoy running. I've run a fair amount in the past...that is, until I get lazy. Then I'll stop. It's not really a model for those who want to get fit. I admit I've yet to achieve the level of consistency that even I would have wanted. So here's what I plan to do -- start running again, and document a journal of my runs here in Steem. I won't do strenuous runs for starters as I don't think my body is conditioned yet at this time. I hope to achieve at least a level of consistency.
If anyone has a nice beginner training plan on running for someone in his 40s, I hope he/she can share some insights. Would love some advise or tips on this. In the meantime, I'm giving a shout out to the @running project for their wake-up call and hope to get back into running.
For more information, here's some more background on the @runningproject initiative: https://busy.org/@runningproject/the-steem-running-project-introductory-post and https://busy.org/@runningproject/the-steem-running-project-7th-status-report-we-are-already-46-approved-runners.
Have a great weekend ahead.
