Royce Da 5'9: Book of Ryan Album Review
Artist: Royce Da 5'9
Album: Book of Ryan
Release Date: May 4, 2018
Wealth & Motivate Rating:
The Detroit spitter Royce Da 5’9 dropped The Book of Rynan today and he does not disappoint! As we head into the summer, Royce brings the heat. Royce begins the album with inspirational talk and gets us ready as he’s about to hypnotized us with his poetic flows and surgical rhythmic precision…aka really fucking DOPE BARZ !
Track# 2 Woke
First of all, a strong salute goes out to producer KeY Wane!!! Good lawd!!! The beat comes in like when Debo knockout Red and took his bike in Friday. Then the sample from Nas’s Got Yourself a Gun gives the track the right vibes for Royce to rip this track.
Royce aggressive rhymes and ill word play gets me hooked and ready to dig further.
“This one's for those of you just ain't woke yet, ho-tep
You rich but you broke nigga just don't know yet, ho-tep
These rappers ain't woke yet, security back 'em, ho-tep
Ho-tep, come to Detroit with that, oh yes, that's a toe-tag”
~ Royce Da 5'9

Track# 4 Caterpillar
“Ring the alarm, the caterpillar is firing
Ohh, we in the war, where butterflies keep dyin' (ahh)”
~ Royce Da 5’9

When Eminem and Royce get together it’s always magic and nothing has changed on the Book of Ryan. I don’t know about you but anytime I hear Gil Scott-Heron I get chills and know a true emcee is about to spit! Royce and Em declare lyrical war on the industry and I don’t many rappers want smoke with these two… After the recent “Coon-ye”...sorry I mean Kanye comments, it seems as if Royce and Em are prophetic as we are all witnessing butterflies are dying...
“Hold up like a flashcard
Damn dawg, is that copyin' or payin' homage?
It's sad because dad taught you to rap as a damn toddler
My dad is your grandfather, I'll have to re-hatch on you
Come back as black wasp, half yellow jacket, you can't swat a
Sasquatch dancing on top of an ant trample it and stomp it
Smash it and stand on it, dammit, I can't stop it
The rap is a vag' and I'm goin' in like a tampon in this bitch
It's a manslaughter”
~ Eminem

Track# 8 Cocaine
Cocaine is one of my favorite tracks on Book of Ryan. Royce get introspective and talks about how his father was addicted to cocaine. However Royce dat overcame his vice and choose his family over drugs. Royce pays homage to his father for being a positive example.
“Now let's talk about how much I respect my Pop
He's been through so much in life, we ain't never had a lot
We just had each other's back, that was really all we need
Pop I love you unconditional and thanks for loving me more than, cocaine
My father chose me over cocaine (cocaine) Cocaine
I'm proud to say that I'm an addict who inherit your pain”
