Ce este și ce nu este Steemit

Pe scurt, Steemit este o rețea socială care oferă recompense directe celor care contribuie conținut și celor care gestionează (fac "curation") conținut. Steemit este bazat pe tehnologia blockchain, aceeași tehnologie care stă la baza monedei virtuale Bitcoin.

Recompensele primite în rețea sunt distribuite sub forma unor monede virtuale specifice (Steem, Steem Power - SP și Steem Backed Dollar - SBD), despre care vom vobi puțin mai încolo.

What Is And What Isn't Steemit

Simply put, Steemit is a social network which directly rewards users who are contributing content and users who are curating content. Steemit is built on top of the blockchain, the same technology powering cryptocoins like Bitcoin.

Rewards are distributed in the network via 3 virtual coins (Steem, Steem Power - SP, and Steem Backed Dollar). We will talk in more detail about them later on.

Întrucât aceste monede sunt generate nu numai în urma unui proces de tranzacții și de validare a lor prin "minare", ca in cazul Bitcoin, ci și prin performarea anumitor activități gestionate tot prin blockchain - așa-numitele "smart contracts" - cum ar fi publicarea sau votarea de conținut, aceste monede virtuale pot fi denumite mai corect ca fiind "appcoin", spre deosebire de "cryptocoin".

Since these coins are generated not only as a result of a transactional and validating process, like "mining" (Bitcoins, for instance) but also by performing certain activities managed by the blockchain itself - the so called "smart contracts" - like publishing or voting content, these virtual coins can be described in a more correct way as "appcoins", rather than "cryptocoins".

Steem, ca și experiment de rețea socială care își plătește utilizatorii, nu e un concept complet nou, sau revoluționar. De-a lungul timpului au mai existat astfel de inițiative (de la Tsu până la Reddit, unde poți să plătești un utilizator îm Reddit Gold) însă conceptul de bază al Steem este diferit.

Cea mai importantă diferență e ca Steem e construit în întregime peste un blockchain. Asta inseamnă că pagina web pe care o vezi acum își trage datele dintr-un bockchain distribuit global, nu dintr-o baza de date controlată de un singur computer sau entitate. Mai înseamnă de asemenea că rețeaua este complet transparentă și poți vedea oricând activitatea unui alt utilizator.

As an experiment of a social netowork paying its members, Steem is not a completely new or revolutionary concept. Over the time there were many other initiatives (from Tsu up to Reddit, where you can pay another user in Reddit Gold) but the base concept of Steemit is different.

The most important difference is that Steem is built entirely over a blockchain. That means that the very page you see right now is pulling its contents from a globally distributed blockchain and not from a single database controlled by only one computer or entity. It also means the network is completely transparent and you can see anytime the activity of another user.

Obiectivele Steemit sunt

• crearea unei economii a atenției în care din marfă vândută advertiserilor, utilizatorii să devina proprietari și beneficiari ai conținutului
• crearea unui blockchain puternic, în care transparența și auto-guvernarea sunt prioritare
• testarea mecanismelor economice descrise mai sus si imbunătățirea lor continuă

Ce Fac Monedele Astea?

Fiecare utilizator primește 3 tipuri de recompense Steem, Steem Power - SP și Steem Backed Dollar - SBD.

Steem este moneda virtuală propriu-zisă. Este foarte lichidă, în sensul că se emite în mod constant Steem, și poate fi schimbată cu orice altă crypto-monedă. Atunci când îți instalezi un nod Steem și vrei să "minezi" vei obține Steem, nu Steem Power și nici Steem Backed Dollar.

Steem Power este echivalarea influenței pe care o ai în ecosistem. Cu cât ai mai mult SP, cu atât votul tău va genera mai multe venituri pentru cei cărora le votezi conținutul. SP nu poate fi convertită direct în Steem. Conversia se poate face doar în baza unui proces numit "power down" prin care totalul activelor e distribuit către Steem prin 104 plăți săptămînale, pe durata a doi ani. Practic, îți blochezi banii în SP, ca un mod de a-ți arăta încrederea în sistem și de a-și consolida autoritatea.

Steem Backed Dollar e un instrument financiar la termen, care este "legat" de USD. Prin mecanismele de piață din Steemit, 1 SBD e garantat să ofere întotdeauna echivalentul a 1 USD în Steem. Cu alte cuvinte, dacă ai 5SBD, poți să îi schimbi aproape întotdeauna în echivalentul a 5USD. SBD primește și o dobândă de 10% pe an, dacă îi ții în cont. Dacă vrei să cumperi Steem cu SBD, tranzacția va fi executată la prețul de peste o săptămână (dacă vei cumpăra azi, vei primi echivalentul în Steem la rata de schimb de peste o săptămână). SBD și Steem pot fi schimbate în exchange-uri și apoi transferate în monede tradiționale.

What's With All These Coins?

Each users gets 3 types of rewards: Steem, Steem Power - SP and Steem Backed Dollar - SBD.

Steem is the actual virtual cryptocoin. It's very liquid, there's a constant supply of Steem pouring in and it can be changed in an exchange with any other cryptocoin. When you install a Steem node and want to "mine", you get Steem, not Steem Power, nor Steem Backed Dollars.

Steem Power is the equivalent of the influence you have in the ecosystem. The more SP you have, the more revenue your votes will generate for the content you upvote. SP cannot be converted directly into Steem. Conversion can be done only by a process called "power down" in which the SP is distributed into Steem by 104 weekly payments, over a 2 years period. Basically, you block your money in SP to show your trust into the system and to consolidate your authority.

Steem Backed Dollar is a financial instrument which is "pegged" to the USD. By market mechanisms, SBD is guaranteed to always offer you the equivalent of 1$ worth of Steem. In other words, if you have 5SBD, you can almost always convert them in the equivalent of $USD. SBD gets an interest of 10% per annum, if you just keep it into your account. If you want to buy Steem with SBD, the transaction will be executed at the price over one week from now (if you buy today, you will receive the equivalent in Steem at the exchange rate from over a week from now). SBD and Steem can be exchanged for other cryptocurrencies in exchanges and then transferred into fiat.

O clasificare amuzantă a utilizatorilor Steem este în funcție de influentța pe care o au, sau de cât SP dispun. Astfel, avem: balene, delfini și plevușcă. O balenă are SP extrem de mare (uneori, milioane) și poate genera foarte mult venit cu voturile exprimate. Un delfin e un utilizator mediu, cu SP între 1000 și 10.000, iar plevușca se referă la toți ceilalți.

Whales, Dolphins And Other Marine Fauna

A funny classification of Steem users is based on their influence, or how much SP they have. Therefore, we have: whales, dolphins and minnows. A whales has an extremely large amount of SP (sometimes millions) and it can generate a lot of revenue with its votes. A dolphin is an average user, with SP between 1000 and 10.000 and minnows, well, it's all the others.

Cum Se Stabilește Prețul Steem Și Cum E Gestionată Rețeaua?

Prețul Steem e stabilit de un grup de 19 "martori" ("witnesses") care sunt votați în mod transparent de comunitate. Locurile nu sunt fixe, și, dacă un "martor" iese din primii 19, locul lui e luat de altcineva. Martorii au 2 sarcini principale:

• publicarea prețurilor pentru Steem ("price feeds")
• validarea tranzacțiilor prin "minare"

Din observațiile mele de pînă acum, martorii au o implicare mult mai mare în rețea. Se implică în proiecte alternative sau complementare xonstruite peste blockchain-ul Steemit și dau mult mai multă valoare decât simplul proces de validare al tranzacțiilor. Aceasta este o diferențâ remarcabilă față de sistemul tradițional de "mining" în care era importantă doar puterea de calcul pusă la dispoziție de un miner.

Prețul final al Steem e stabilit ca fiind prețul median extras din cele 19 prețuri ("price feeds") publicate de martori.

How The Price Of Steem Is Calculated And How Is The Network Managed?

Steem price is established by a group of 19 "witnesses", which are transparently voted by the community. The spots are not fixed and if a "witness" steps out from the first 19, its place is taken by the next one in rankings. Witnesses have 2 main tasks:

• publishing the price for Steem (via "price feeds")
• validation of transactions by mining

From what I saw so far, witnesses have a much bigger involvement in the network. They are getting involved in alternative or complementary projects build on top of Steemit blockchain and they offer much more value than the simple transaction validation process. That's a remarkable difference from the traditional mining process in whcih the only thing that counted was the computing power.

The final price of Steem is set as the median price of all the 19 price feeds

Ce Caut Eu Aici?

Motivul pentru care testez Steem este interesul meu crescând pentru domeniul blockchain (în special zona de "smart contracts" și "governance"). Faptul că pot vedea cum se implementează atât o economie virtuală, cât și părți importante de "governance" este extrem de prețios pentru mine, și valorează mult mai mult decât timpul investit până acum.

The reason I'm testing Steem is my increasing interest for the entire blockchain topic (especially "smart contracts" and "governance"). The fact that I can see how a virtual economy is implemented as well as some important parts of governance is extremely valuable for me, and it's worth more than the time I invested so far in the platform.
