A Role Model Steemian | The most basic reason WHY

in #rolemodel7 years ago (edited)

I always look forward to contests run by @anomadsoul and when I saw one of my co-admins post her bid to join the contest I knew I wanted to do it as well.

Problem is I already joined another contest that is very similar under Do you want 500 SP Delegation? by @suesa and it doesn't feel right if I would rewrite almost the same things that I wrote there for another contest.

If you are ever interested to look at my piece you can click on the title Shoal of Minnows | Strength and Survival in numbers

SO WHO AM I NOMINATING?

Source

In my three months in Steemit I have gotten to know some very good people. Any number of people comes into mind like @jon24jon24 who at such a young age is an awesome leader! His photos showcase an almost professional level and he engages people even if he is busy juggling crypto trading, school, his photography, family, Steemit and reviewing for the board exam. His multitasking skills are over 9000!!!

@ankarlie our crypto chick and soon to be whale! She was the one that brought me to Steemit, which is my latest addiction [I blame her for not sleeping]. She connects everyone and is supportive to everyone regardless of group, community, nationality or preference. She has managed to create a very trusted reputation around Steemit and has accomplished a lot of stuff for someone so young at 19 years old!

Source

@klborillo is a silent and shy one in the group but is the administrator and cleaner of the page. She untiringly removes posts and move things in proper place and always leaves a nice comments and votes of support to everyone. Her eye for detail in photography is top notch.

@khenbee is the resident artist who loves sketching anime and cartoon characters while living away from his family and lovey doves at the moment. He is working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide for them. It is his wish to become financially stable to go back home and stay. He is the funny man in the group often with a quip and joke to make us laugh. I still have the pictures and screenshots!

@gheghenrv who with affection we call Paweer a bastardized version of the word Power which is often shouted in Pyramid MLM networking events to get the crowd pumped up. This is because she took almost everyone she knows and had them join Steemit. Majority of the people that just joined us has seven degrees of separation from her haha. She often talks about her family and the adventures she has with her cousins.

Source

@ediah is the songbird who loves joining singing contests and doing her smudge art. She often talks about her family and life overseas. She is always for a lookout for contests and nominations we can join. In fact she was the one that saw this contest.

@jamesanity06 is the resident poet who dishes out lines and quatrains of pure emotion. Weaving words like a metal he fashions it into a work of art and in the same time possesses technical expertise to troubleshoot codes and bots.

@caaat is the warm and sunny character who makes everyone feel welcome with her bright smile and cheerful personality. Talking about her many interests in photography and musings in life.

@rjd is another mostly silent but conscientious member who acts as our graphic artists.Endlessly churning out footer and banner requests while still writing his deep musings and great photos.

@vallesleoruther is who we all aspire to be. Helpful while maintaining his own advocacy of making the #Philippines tag as a top trending tag and rewarding people who use it. He was one of the first people that guided us to where we are now. He answered our endless questions about Steemit and had a patience of a saint. We are thankful for his guidance and mentorship.

Then there is me @maverickinvictus the grumpy veteran scarred by disappointments and failures. A mix of light and darkness and usually prefers to be alone but once I opened up I grew fiercely protective of everyone. Writer of long comments and posts. I have made several guides to newbies and I am all over the place commenting on a myriad of topics and authors.

So any of these wonderful creatures, myself included would do well and be nominated for the 500 SP delegation and know that they would use it for the good of the community and not for self gain.

So you went through a whole slew of characters and I still have not mentioned who I think would be a good person to have that 500 SP delegation. Well because I believe that it should be shared. It would be the collective spirit of these wonderful people who share a common goal of wanting to support planktons and minnows who are swimming in our little part of the ocean and help mentor and nurture them to become good quality Steemians who would contribute great content and provide meaningful interactions. They will further enrich the creativity and beauty of the Steemit Community.

IT WOULD BE @STEEMITFAMILYPH

image.png

It is all of our strengths and none of our weakness and hang ups. As it would provide a nurturing ground for talent to be unleashed. People would no longer be beholden to what would trend and be lost in the currents of what everyone is doing. They would be able to write about what they are passionate about. Things that they love to do and share with the rest of the community.

Don't get me wrong contests and challenges are good to be part of a bigger collective from time to time but once it starts to stifle the individuality of a person. Once it limits the creative process and hinders growth they would just become another cog in the machinery. They would lose their humanity.

I have seen so many people's post to be the same thing over and over again. Joining a challenge, go to what is trending and would most likely get upvotes that they stop being themselves and end up what they think Steemit expects them to be in order to get attention. To gain upvotes. Everything would be calculated to get votes. It is no longer about their own original content.

In the end we are lost in a sea of black umbrellas in the rain. Indistinguishable from one another until someone wades in with a red umbrella and all eyes turn. Then we all secretly wished we brought our red umbrella instead.

The idea of having the 500 SP delegation given to a community who will support individuals instead of an individual who will support a community which was your original concept is a bit unorthodox even dare I say it maverick. Yet I think it do a lot more good.

When I was creating the topic and draft points for this post I was looking at several characteristics you mentioned and was ticking things off and yes the account has no intentions of powering down. We are just getting started here. We want to be able to nurture new people joining Steemit and help grow by mentoring and feeding them once in. Nothing breaks a minnow's heart and spirit faster than seeing zeroes in a post they did.

We would want to start some of our advocacy and social down the road once we grow enough to do those. Medical and Dental [did I mention I have a phobia on dentists and yet I am surrounded by them!] Outreach programs would be something we would want to do.

Albeit @steemitfamilyph does not create its own content but usually publishes highlighted post that are of good quality, original and enriching the content in Steemit. In a way it is inspiring people to be themselves. To create their own. To be who they want to be not their perception of who they should be to be successful. Inspiring is the key concept here.

We all try to comment and cheer up people. We give them the tiniest upvote to change that zero to at least a 0.01 so that its not a total lost but we usually end up using our personal account and basically cats out of the bag and they know that I am one of the curators. Come to think of it I just gave it all away here lol oh well sorry @jon24jon24

So how will we use the SP delegation. Even if we do not have a lot of Steem Power we each gave a delegation to @Steemfamilyph in order for it to gain a slider. We needed the slider so that we can distribute it to the various members who are doing good, just a little upvote so it is not entirely a zero and to reward with 100% for those who created great articles it is often manually vote trailed by us.

You know that feeling of heartfelt satisfaction when we read how inspired they are to do better and create more content. It's just awesome and warms the heart.

Right now in order for us to give a semblance of a reward we need to use about 10-20% voting power and then use 100% to a couple of the highlighted ones. That drains @steemitfamilyph voting power really quick.

Just to give you an idea how we badly need it. We'll show you the number of people that joined in the last 28 days.

image.png

From a group that was less than 40 before and the active there would be around 10 or so we grew to a massive 527% Not all of them are active because we still have some people waiting for their approval but they are still a lot.

It blew my mind because of the result of word of mouth from Paweer Vibs and the subsequent word of mouth of those that she encouraged to join exponentially made us grow. We had no idea that this was going to happen this quickly.

So that delegated SP would benefit a lot of people who would be properly mentored, guided and encouraged to create good original content and not vote beg but to stand on their own merit and creativity.

They would always have someone on their corner. Appreciating what they have to offer and letting them grow to be who they want to be in Steemit.

To quote @taskmaster4450

Give us your poor, broken, uneducated, ugly, overlooked, unsuccessful, hopeless, abused, weird, outcast, lonely, scared, fragile, and desperate....and we will turn them into STEEMIANS.

@steemitfamilyph will take them and will be all inclusive.

When I started I did the same mad rush to get the attention of whales and dolphins. But I slowly grew into who I want to be here. Without any pretensions, without any mask. A person who is true to himself and creating authentic human connections. I'm sorry @ashleykalila if I am borrowing your tagline.

So why are we going through all the headache and trouble of building a community?

The question is

WHAT IS @STEEMITFAMILYPH? - Simple answer is we are OHANA

image.png

Source

Hold up! Hold up! We were using Finding Nemo and Dory characters earlier but now we are in Lilo and Stitch? Don't worry! We are still in Disneyverse! This is still canon in the story haha!

We are more than people who at the end of their day would start to write their thoughts, have it promoted and have people look at. We are more than Jedi Masters and Padawans in training (Now Disney property!) We look after one another, support each one, we raise their spirits when they are feeling down and hopeless, we provide them with a smile and kind word when they are hurting. We offer them solace and compassion in a harsh, unforgiving world and positively critique their works so that they may grow.

I belong to several other groups, discord channels, Steem.chat and advocacy but no matter how far I swim I know I can always go back. @jamesanity06 and @caaat are testament to this. They went away for a month due to personal reasons and when they returned it was as if they never left. They were warmly greeted. They were not forgotten nor left behind.

We are the most basic unit of community. We are home. We are family. We are OHANA

Thank you for reading my thoughts.

There are too many things I want to say but I dont know how to express it. Thank you for nominating our family. Just reading this, it already feels like we've won. We've already won and got the best prize, and that is our close-knit family. Though, it's still better if we win this. 😁

Hahha thank you for the kind words and hopefully yes it gets considered.

Another beautiful creation from my brother-from-another-mother! You never fail to amaze me every time you dish out your heart felt articles. You got me to literally shed a tear when you emphasized how I went missing for a while and welcomed back like a long lost relative man! One of these days I'll pay you two folds for making me shed a tear! But nonetheless another article worthy of praise! Upvoted, resteemed and praying our Ohana gets the reward delegation! Cheers!
