I'm happy to see university funded initiatives for using technology to help the aging community.
I am an RN in an Emergency Department and I know that many of the acute medical issues that the elderly come in for are related to not taking their medications properly. This offers and simple and warm and fluffy fix for that, which is great!!

The companionship/interactive element of the robotic cat reminds me of some of the products/programs in the toy industry designed to help in brain development for kids. It is exciting to imagine an interactive, affordable product for the elderly to keep their minds engaged and slow the process/onset of dementia.
