Dreaming on going to SteemFest

in #roadtosteemfest5 years ago (edited)

Like I've already said, I already have my plane tickets to Bangkok. (Not biking or hitchhiking unfortunately.) I only need to check if my vaccines are up to date, but besides that, I'm not sure if there's too much to plan. I don't need much clothes in Thailand, except socks and underwear, because it is to be expected to be sweating bucket loads there, especially when being used to the cold Northern European climate. Talking about plans, I highly recommend checking @fitinfun's post about visas and other useful travel information about Thailand.

One useful thing I learned from the post, is that when travelling to Thailand, one must have the following amount of funds in CASH (or the equivalent of in any currency):

10,000 thb $325 usd per person if you do not have a Visa.
20,000 thb $650 usd per person if you have 60 day Tourist Visa.

Apparently this isn't checked on everybody, and being a very Nordic looking person, there's probably not a very high chance for me to be caught off the line, but it's good information to know, because it's possible the officials can prevent your access to the country if you don't have the money with you.

Another good tip for Thailand is to take a water filter – or even one of those handy bottles in Amazon that has it integrated to the bottle – so that you don't need to buy bottled water in avoidance of stomach aches from bad water. I also need to get a SIM with internet when getting to Bangkok and figure my way from the airport to the city itself.

So I guess there are little things to plan after all.
Like taking dried fruit with me.

You might've noticed that I broke the rules with the title a little, but that is because I've literally been dreaming about SteemFest – or at least the many people I met during SteemFest 3 in Krakow. Actually, this last night was another dream: I think I was in Bangkok, and in that dream I caught myself trying to spot familiar faces and getting delighted when I got to embrace them.

So, to say to anyone who's still thinking or doubting of going to SteemFest even if they could, financially and otherwise: think how big of an impact it has left on me – 8 months and I'm still having dreams about it. That shit is deep in my psyche, and it's not going away. It will be one of the most significant events of your life, the attending of which you will never regret.

So much hearts for you.

Oh man, I hope to see you and all my other new Steemfest buddies in November!

Trying, never say never...

Hopefully you'll make it, would be awesome to see you, too!

You too! Although this time the price of Steem is so bad that I don't think I can cover it like I did in Krakow.

Maybe there will be a sudden price boost, or more likely my business goals are met! :-)

I'm definitely not using any STEEM myself, not on these prices at least. But no worries since, I'm pretty well off financially.

Price you can't affect, but with business results you can have a little more influence at least!

Thank you for the shout out, @celestal.

You definitely do not need any vaccines for Thailand, especially if you are only going to be in Bangkok.

I would not trust a water filter though and drink bottled there. Thai people do not drink from the taps in Bangkok and would be horrified to hear you will try it.

Your best bet for the SIM card is after arrival at the airport where many places will be competing for your business.

One of my upcoming posts will be about airport transport, so I will be sure to let you know when I do it. It would have been this week's post until I saw this contest :)

You know I was going anyway, but your last two paragraphs make me want to go even more. I can't wait and I know this will be a great event.

I'm most likely not going to be staying in Bangkok for 30 days :D

Well, I have a filter that filters basically all the bacteria from the water and I've used it to drink lake water, so I'm quite confident with it.

One of my upcoming posts will be about airport transport, so I will be sure to let you know when I do it.

Excellent!
