Rickysphotochallenge Week 12 Entry 4 - Abstract - A trefoil knot

This photo is a part of a giant sculpture of a trefoil knot with triangular base. It is a very interesting mathematical object. The side of the knot is illuminated by an intermittent light in order to show that it is a Möbius band (with three twists). The glass ceiling add up to the abstract mood of the photo. The ceiling looks like a tessellation of the hyperbolic disk.

The photo was taken in the Museum of science and technology in Beijing.

This is my fourth entry in this week photo contest: Rickysphotochallenge. This week theme is abstract, one of my favorite subjects.
