MindSports IO - Decentralized MindSports Network based on The Ethereum BlockChain

in #review7 years ago (edited)

MindSports IO

I'm a big fan of cerebral warfare and a seasoned Backgammon veteran, taught to me by my Grandfather as a child, but this concept could have only come from the mind of a Chess Master. A 3 times XiangQi World Champion, Chess Master.

An Elite Mindsports Community

It's an elegant case use for BlockChain, which provides laudable and simple solutions to age old challenges. Fairness, transparency, administration.. cheating, or shall we say, biased influence. Decentralisation offers a huge draw for the MindAthlete. The need for a single point of governance is removed. Users can self govern games. It's Smart, so it's transparent.

The Ethereum Network

The network is increasingly relied on by a range of leading BlockChain projects to provide the cornerstones of a trustless system where smart contracts automatically fulfill their objectives without the touch, bias or delay of a human hand. For MindsSports tournaments like Chess, Go, XiangQi, Bridge, Backgammon and many more, it's an easy sell in for intellectual game players.

Ethereum provides an efficient, seamless and competition worthy support mechanism which is impartial, objective, trusted, secure, transparent and impossible to argue with. (This has fringe benefits for the emotional state of all players involved and helps build an essential level of trust in the platform.) This brings with it a distinct advantage and one which will certainly attract the highest level of Games Masters & Champions from around the world.

MindSports IO

It's clever, well thought out and expandable. Users can propose and vote for future games which the MindSports IO team will make into a reality. There are various components which make up the compendium so let's have a look at the 3 main features and the benefits they offer.

Decentralized Mind Sports Hosting, Playing and Network Governance

There are 3 main ways to interact with the network and earn Mind Tokens.

  • Host & Join Rated Tournaments

  • Play & Win Mind Tokens

  • Vote & Govern the Network

Social Gaming Network

Like all online communities, Steemit included, users are attracted to the potential for interactions with people who have similar interests and maybe meeting and befriending the occasional Games Master. Sharing ideas, making friends and discussing strategy, or just catching up on current affairs have an important role to play in any community of shared interest and in this respect, a dedicated Whisper layer has been implemented for messaging. It's a vital component and one that not all Ethereum BlockChain projects choose to include.

Technical Layers

The platform is composed of interlocking technologies and so is an advanced hybrid project. This has distinct advantages, bringing the best of each technology to create a unique and effective, interlocking ecosystem.

  • Front End Client JS / HTML / CSS

  • IPFS net / file storage system

  • (Ethereum) BlockChain Smart Contracts

  • Whisper P2P Communication

Comparisons With Competitors

Like all good disruptive ideas, MindSports IO stacks up well in terms of features. The main online games platforms like chess.com, premium chess & mindsports academy already offer online gaming, but none of them can offer the unique features of MindSports IO sophisticated system. They are all centralised, they are all admin controlled, none of them have BlockChain support, a governance system or fund escrow and other than MindSports Academy, they offer few games to the Intellectual Gamer. This is real disruption, which simply means better, more evolved and thus the inheritor of the future. I like it. Long Live the BlockChain Revolution in it's many coloured and socially inclusive, coat.

Good to know it exists, @outerground :)

Thanks @lighteye, yeah it's a really interesting BlockChain concept. Applied to self governing games. I just wish we could port it into our Thursday night Games Night (real world game sessions). It would prevent a lot of, shall we say, minor disagreements over the games table !

Congratulations on placing 3rd with this entry in the @originalworks writing contest, @outerground! You did a great job with the formatting of this post, and illustrated it nicely, as well. I enjoyed reading it! Cheers!

thanks @mitneb. I found this one tough. Energy levels and mood can play a big part in competition. I read @michellerhey's entry later and was like, yeah that's how to do it ! Neat and smooth flowing. Next week game on !

Well, I thought yours was very well done, @outerground. I know what you mean by energy levels and mood. I realized that I was just not in the head space or emotional presence after the car accident to be attempting it, and that's why I decided to bow out. I'm giving myself the time we are resting on vacation to not be concerned about it. On another note, I was finally able to place an order for one of your clocks yesterday, and am looking forward to its arrival. Cheers!

Thanks @mitneb It's good that you're having a rest. A car accident is a very unsettling experience. I've been in a couple .. AND, oh wow, that's amazing news ! could you send me a photo of it when you put it up ? I'd love to see what it looks like for real in the electron design. even better if you include a little bit of the room.

I sure will send you a photo of your amazing design clock, @outerground! I'm still not totally sure which room it will hang in. My rooms are painted different colors, and I am going to have to try all options before making a final decision. I can't wait!. Cheers!

Another great share.
I've resteemed your post!

@mdo is a spam bot on Steemit who is posting similar content all over the place (check his comments).

Please flag to stop the circulation of such spammers.

thanks for the heads up @mooncryption. I actually thought @mdo was real as they have been making comments in the main thread @originalworks. I assumed they were a fan of the writing and the content ! now it's just another faceless comment .. ah well !

Sure :)

The people behind the bot have thought up (somewhat clever) ranges of comments for it to spam. It's not too smart all the time though, one time it commented Great video! Resteemed. on one of my posts (which never include videos) which is what propelled me into looking the guy up.

Nice article though :)

@mdo is all over the place ! duly flagged, greyed out and all misty eyed..

thanks @mdo, that's very (un)cool of you ! you bad bot.. you didn't resteem did you ! tut tut rep of 15 ! I'm not surprised

At zero now! His comments should start getting grayed out all over Steemit. Once we plunge him into the negative reputation zone we can consider him "finished."

:)

Good work, John Connor !
