Nobody's paying me for this, these are my real conclusions, what I spent my money on, as a father of a child with a tablet, laptop, and android phone.

These articles explain some basic (free) methods of securing a tablet or other device for younger children. But, these methods are the bare minimum, for only the youngest children. Phones are just as vulnerable, expensive, and powerful as many modern day PCs. To ensure the safety of your child, your device, and finances, you need real security.

This review by PC Magazine and article from Tom's Guide both select Symantec Norton Family Premier as the best overall childproofing app on the market. Net Nanny came in a close second, due to its more expensive options that include multiple social media accounts montoring.

If you don't already have Norton, you probably should. I don't work for them, I'm not getting paid for this article, but I've used their security products since 2013. I have had zero issues.

You're able to get nearly 50% discount codes and sales, especially if your subscription auto-renews, and you call support to cancel they usually give you a fantastic deal to stay. This usually keeps the price around $40 for a year.

This covers 10 devices, Firewall, Anti-virus (protection from the newest ransomware), and even includes the parental control software for kids on PC and mobile phones.

Net Nanny is top of the line too, but it doesn't do everything Norton provides. It can even get more expensive, when adding social media features that monitor your childs email address to see check their social media accounts and posts. This is one of the main features it has over Norton. It lacks Anti-Virus, GPS tracking, etc. Norton provides, however. And the coverage for all of your entire family's devices against nearly all online threats.

In Conclusion..

Since I was already paying for Norton, the buck stopped here on the research. The Premier upackage was one step up from the Deluxe I had already paid for. I asked their support chat about and upgrade and they gave it to me for free!

They have a 30-day trial for their products. Even after the trial period is over a majority of the features continue to work on the free version. So I think it's worth a look. It's a no brainer to keep your PCs, phones, and other expensive, important devices secure, so Norton is my simple, cheap, top rated solution for all of that (in combination with talking to my child).
