A wristband with user’s medical records could be a life-saver in emergencies
A wristband that can store medical records of its user can be a life-saver to the person in case of medical emergency situations.
WRIXO, a cloud-based medical wristband, can store medical records of its user and can help medical professionals to figure out what is wrong and help the person faster when he faces a medical emergency, reports Mashable.
Idol Memory, an internet security company, launched the product on IndieGoGo this Tuesday. The wristband is waterproof, durable, requires no batteries or recharge, and comes in blue and pink.
The wristband, set to hit the markets this November, has been manufactured specifically for elderly and children who might not know their information, so that emergency responders can get their health records in a hurry.
It can also serve as a medical ID for its user, making it beneficial for anyone in the population. The wristband has a Near Field Communication (NFC) wireless chip inside of it, which contains its user’s unique patient ID that can be used to access all of his medical records.
One just needs to tap into WRIXO with an NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet, or scan the QR barcode on the wristband, to get access to all of the information they need, reports Mashable.
The user has to update his records by tapping into his wristband, log into his account, and make any changes would like. The updated information will become available immediately after it is saved.
The medical professional, or responders, will be able to see is if the person has any allergies, or if any disease runs in his family, his emergency contacts, blood type. They can also see the person’s prescriptions previously approved by doctor, images of X-Rays and MRIs, and medical notes, if those are shared by the doctor.
Emergency responders and doctors have to put in their cell phone number in order to receive a temporary PIN number before getting access to the user’s information in WRIXO, which ensures that only those people who need to see the health records have access to it.
The wristband can also help with refilling its user’s prescriptions. All he has to do is take a picture of the prescription and fax it the local pharmacy from his smartphone. It'll be ready for him when needed.
