The Sheep and The Good Shepherd

For some reason, I’m uncertain as to whether I want to share this little story of mine but…I have a leading to. So let’s go!
Since I left school in February this year, it has been quite….difficult for me to get a job. I got a couple of offers but the distance from my house to the establishments would pretty much swallow my entire salary for the Month (my best friend says I live in the valley and it’s not even a joke ). I had written letters upon letters, talked to more people that would be necessary ‍ but the issue was always the same – distance.
You know, writing this post, I just remembered what my daddy told me a few days after I finished school. He said,
“Chinwendu, go and take up a teaching job”.
And this is me like…
“Ehn? Teaching what? After spending all that time studying computer engineering? Hehe… Noooo way.. “.
Thinking about it now, I smile. Daddy saw it before I did.
When God Himself then told me to take a teaching job, that He wanted to use the process I’d go through to train me for purpose, I was still hesitant. Very.
In the part of the world where I live, teachers are not as appreciated as they should be. Especially the young teachers.
So I continued to resist. I kept sending applications to advertising agencies and banks and other ‘prestigious looking’ companies. Lol… I stopped getting replies altogether.
Let me shorten this story. I finally decided to let God do His thing. I had tried everything else anyway and at the beginning of this week, I was in bed when He asked me to get up, dress up and go to apply at a certain school that is not too far from my house. I was going to say,
“ Haba, Abba! There didn’t even put out any vacancies”.
But now I know better than to resist so… I got dressed and went to drop my resumé.
Surprisingly, I was tested on the same day. It’s a kind of practical test where I was to act like I am already teaching the students.
Guys, I flopped. Badly. I stuttered. I forgot everything I knew. I kept swallowing spit.
In fact, in summary, I acted dumb.
I told myself, ‘Vivian, forget this. You’re soo not getting this job’.
But the person who was testing me just scratched his head and said,
“ You seem a little unprepared. Do you want to come back in 48 hours and take this test again?”
I said yes.
That was two days ago.
Do I need to mention that I’ve not slept properly in two days?
So today, with the full consciousness that I had God backing me, I went in again for the interview.
Guess who got the job?
Yuhhhsss…. Yo gurrrllll.. Lol
You know the part that has me excited tho? When the Director of the school was giving his evaluations on my performance, he said the exact
same thing that God told me was the reason why He wanted me to take a teaching job.
I really do not take blessings like this one for granted. And to be honest, I’m just happy to finally have a job .
Plus, I feel such peace in my spirit.
Pick whatever you want from my story but one thing I want you to never forget is that God is faithful. And where He is, is really the safest place to beFor some reason, I’m uncertain as to whether I want to share this little story of mine but…I have a leading to. So let’s go!
