Open Letter to Religious and Ultra-Orthodox ...
Because perhaps for a change I will receive a practical answer ... Being a secular (atheist) I am not
Believes in the existence of a omnipotent God or Creator or as is commonly said "God" ...
As a result of course, in the eyes of all "holy books" and other religious ceremonies are
Folklore combines some historical facts and fantasy ...
I have recently written a number of articles suggesting my dissatisfaction with the direction
To which the State of Israel is heading, but wonderfully I received comments in the internal mail
Such as ... hate Jews ... anti-Semites ... hate the Haredim ... desecrate the name of Heaven ... and this
Without mentioning comments that are not to mention ... or alternatively attempts to return
Me in reply or statements of this or that rabbi or verses from the "holy books"
They do not say anything to me ...
I want to make it clear that I do not hate anyone and I do not understand how disagreement on the subject
Religion immediately becomes hate ... Was there a man who has not had a compulsory years
division? Is this hatred?
I jokingly point out that there was almost no agreement between me and my wife ...
But we have lived together for nearly 40 years ... and we have not built hatred ...
Sentences such as "live and let live" or "man in his faith will live" are my guiding light
But I feel that the ability to live according to my belief is diminishing ... almost every day
I hear about bills that restrict freedom of movement or closure
Business on Saturdays ... about the lack of public transportation on Shabbat that forces the youth
For high expenses ... we will not mention the extra cost for products
"Kosher" ... and I can continue on and on ...
Do I, as a secular Jew, restrict a religious person to live according to his faith?
Did I force a religious person to drive on Shabbat ... Did I restrict a religious person from saying
His prayers ... and not only those that never occurred to me to do so ...
So I do not understand why you believers are trying to force my way
Your life and not just ... those in force!
It is true that the Land of Israel is defined as the state of the Jewish people but not the Jewish religion
And rightly so! To the best of my understanding, Judaism has many streams ... Orthodox ...
Reform ... Conservative ... and countless other streams ...
And what more correct religious position ... would he turn to a French example of his friend
On the question "What kind of French are you, maybe a Catholic ... maybe a Protestant ... or
Reform or just secular ... And why only here does this question arise ...
What a Jew you are! Can not a Jew be secular?
In the eyes of every penny that is given for religious purposes, money is thrown into the void ...
It could have been used much better.
The knowledge that billions of shekels are being transferred to ultra-Orthodox Jewry is keeping them awake
From my eyes ... This is because the natural increase of the ultra-Orthodox is huge and continuing
The flow of funds will impoverish the country because there is a limit to the financial ability.
If the flow continues, the haredim will become the majority and Israel will become a state
The rule is in the form of Iran, Gaza or even Da'as ...
What do I have and the state of Halacha? I have heard more than once that the state exists thanks to it
Prayers and Torah study of the ultra-Orthodox sector, but ask any ultra-Orthodox
And he will be told that the State of Israel has no right to exist before the coming of the Messiah.
Without mentioning the contempt and disdain for secular holidays ...
Finally after 2000 years we have a state ... a state that secular Jews
Go and establish that if we continue to wait for the Messiah, he must have become extinct as a people ...
I worry about what will happen when most of the people stop working and serve in the army ...
It is likely that he was extinct as both a people and a state ...
And yet I want to end with a joke:
A customer comes "to a working lady" ... how much? He asks ... The lady answers: 100
Customer continues: I love to beat! The lady answers: So 300!
And how much do you like to beat?
Until you return the money! Season customer ...
And that's how I feel ... like that lady, who is both fucked and taken
Her money ...
I hear your concerns and also oppose religious coercion, although I myself am National Religious (Lite).
However the situation regarding the ultra-religious is improving in many ways. Higher workforce participation (for Haredi women almost same as secular women), higher IDF recruitment rates (only about 10% below national average). Haredi birth rates have dropped while that of rest of Jewish population has risen.
Keeping a proper day of rest for the whole population is very important. Sunday trading in Christian countries has destroyed family time and turned sections of the population into slaves.
