Today I would like to look at 2 Timothy 3 verse 1 to 5
1)Remember that there will be difficult times in the last days.
2)People will be selfish, greedy, boastful, and conceited; they will be insulting, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, and irreligious;
3)they will be unkind, merciless, slanderers, violent, and fierce; they will hate the good;
4)they will be treacherous, reckless, and swollen with pride; they will love pleasure rather than God;
5)they will hold to the outward form of our religion, but reject its real power. Keep away from such people.
Here Paul is warning about the difficult times that lay ahead in the last days and describes the characteristics of the world. Then he gives a command "Stay away from such people". We as Christians must also make sure that we don't show these characteristics ourselves.

Agreed.
Staying away makes it difficult to be "in the world, but not of the world". To the extent that people acting as described above rubs off on you, and you respond in kind, I would encourage someone to keep their distance. However, to the extent that you could respond to evil with love, and keep your eyes fixed on the true Lover of your soul throughout, I would encourage that person to stay engaged. That is often beyond me though, I must say.
