Are you afraid of the Devil?

Turns out that rather than being evil incarnate, he's not such a bad dude. A friend of mine who teaches religion at a local university let me in on the true story of the fallen angel who became Satan. His name was Nathan and here is his tale of woe.

A long time ago when the earth was still brand new
I spent some time in heaven among the chosen few
I was learning how to play the harp in angel 101
When a message from the boss arrived he said you’d better come
Now things are far apart up there they got a lot of room
That’s why all angels have those wings and they can really zoom
But I was on probation and my wings had not been won
To keep the boss from waiting I’d really have to run
And then a pretty angel chick offered me a ride
So up upon her back I climbed the bosses place I cried
I asked her what her name was she said my name is Grace
I said the boss is waiting You’ll really have to race…Grace
We took off like a rocket but took a turn too fast
And off her back I tumbled at once I was aghast….
I had fallen from Grace, Oy Vey!
The boss man he was waiting he had a gorgeous place
And the first words that he uttered were I heard you fell from Grace
But that’s not why I summoned you there’s a problem down below
There’s lots of souls in limbo who have no place to go
I’m opening up a new place an underworld bastille
A place for rotten sinners run by a schlemiel…you
You’ll never be an angel we both know that quite well
But you can be the CEO of a place that we’ll call Hell
We can not call you Nathan to me that’s very clear
We need a name that’s nasty one that sinners fear
I might just call you Satan that has an evil ring
I think it will strike terror in every human being
You wont make many friends down there you’ve got a dirty job
But someone has to deal with that low down useless mob
So I became a garbage man to harvest human trash
And though I never liked my job I do it with panache
I have to work in hell now it’s hotter than Iraq
And all because I fell off an angel graces back Oy Vey
