News - Religion curation channel on SteemTrail

in #religion7 years ago (edited)

Hey all, the word religion has many connotations, sometimes even negative.
But it's the word that is used most frequently in the West, to discuss a movement of beliefs in something sacred.

In fact, such beliefs have been an integral part of human's lives for millennia. Then, it would seem difficult to omit it, particularly in a social network of people from all countries. Everyone encounters beliefs during his life, whether those of others or his own. And we could use them as an union and not division !

What's the point of a religion curation channel ?

The purpose of this channel is to promote and support authors who want to share or discuss topics related to religions as a whole. The important thing is that the steemit community can share informations about every subjects.

From this perspective, there will be no preference about one belief or another. The aim is not to proselytize or to say what is better or worse. If this can be interesting for an atheist, agnostic or any believer. That's what matters. Everyone should have the opportunity to make his own idea and vision. This might be difficult, but it's what makes you, You.

On what criterion the post will be chosen ?

First of all, everyone is invited to join the religion-trail channel on discord.
So you can see previous posts or add one (or more) posts related to the religion of loan or far.

Then, I'll be curating this channel and add the posts to the channel "approved-posts". At this point, the people in charge of the latter channel will read these and decide if it will be chosen as one of the daily top post.

You can then tell me that the choice of posts is quite subjective. But in fact, the basic criteria taken into account for the choice are the same for everyone. So, it's as objective as possible.

Some important criteria :

  • As neutral as possible Content – As I have said before, the aim is not to make proselytism, nor to denigrate an ancestral religion. It's for these reasons that a neutral approach will be favored.
  • Plagiarism – If you take the words of an author directly, make sure to quote it correctly. Regarding anything that is not common knowledge, please quote the book or article to which you are referring.
  • Original Content – It's always interesting to see a personal touch in the post, so do not hesitate to make your own summary.
  • Proper Tag – It's important to use the religion tag in your post, if possible in the first place. This facilitates research and curating.
  • Layout and Spelling – Think about putting paragraphs, headlines and subtitles. In order to make reading more "enjoyable". Concerning your words, try to check the spelling. I know it's not always easy, especially if it's not your native language. But it can always be taken as an opportunity to improve your English.

Few words about SteemTrail

SteemTrail is a living community whose purpose is to promote the authors on steemit. What makes its strength is its active authors and curating members. This project includes a trail channel for most of topics, in which people are able to add the posts they liked.
Then the curators of each channel, might add the post in the approved-channel. And these posts will probably be chosen by the community.
So if a post is chosen by the Steemtrail (about one per day/per specific trail), the latter will upvote it. And in addition, the author will receive some TRAIL coins. TRAIL is a token used to reward the curators and the authors for their work.
If you want more information on this subject, I invite you to follow @steemtrail and take a look at this explanatory post, or directly come chatting on the SteemTrail discord.

I am in no way a religious man, but feel it's important to respect and try to understand people's belief systems. I commend you on the initiative behind this and am also glad to have found out about @SteemTrail through this post. Thank you for this post and good luck with your project.

Thank you very much @abso ! Well, no need to be a religious man to have some knowledge about religions. In my opinion, these knowledge might even help us to understand our near or distant neighbors ;)

I couldn't agree more! :D

Hi @lastminuteman, I just stopped back to let you know your post was one of my favourite reads yesterday and I included it in my Steemit Ramble. You can read what I wrote about your post here.

Hello @shadowspub, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for your post and words :)

you're welcome @lastminuteman, good luck with the trail.

This is a great idea as most of the curation groups tend to shy away from religion based posts per the requests of their whale backers. However, we don't want to discourage it on the site as it is very important and affects many people so things like this are very important! Thank you for starting it!

Thank you @jrcornel ! I appreciate your words. Indeed, I was able to understand that whales were reluctant to vote for topics related to religion. Nevertheless, as you said, this is an important topic for many people and it deserves its place on steemit.

This post has been ranked within the top 10 most undervalued posts in the second half of Feb 23. We estimate that this post is undervalued by $20.18 as compared to a scenario in which every voter had an equal say.

See the full rankings and details in The Daily Tribune: Feb 23 - Part II. You can also read about some of our methodology, data analysis and technical details in our initial post.
