Are You A Christian? (pt2)

in #religion7 years ago (edited)

Hello men and brethren,

Welcome to the second and final part on the topic: 'Are you are Christian?'

Last week, I shared with us the various traits that a Christian should as a matter of true followership of Christ reflect as against the traits that are religiously exhibited by every 'Sunday church goer' that profess Christianity as a title rather than accept Christianity as the way of life.

Here is the link to pt 1

Today, I would be sharing with us:

The Benefits of Being a Christian.

Christianity is a way of life. It could as well be argued that Christianity is a culture. It entails every aspect of our being- what we belief( in God); how we should belief(through Jesus) and; when to belief(in and out of season).

The American way of life is centred on freedom and supremacy. The Yorubas' and the Igbos' of western and eastern part of Nigeria ways of life is premised on influence and affluence respectively. On the average, an English man or woman tends to place more value in class and prestige as his/her of way of life. The big question is: ' what do you intend to benefit by living the Christian-way?'

The one and only benefit of being a Christian is to be rewared with everlasting life in God's kingdom.

Oh Yes! Just one benefit, and that is:

  • Everlasting life

Are you rather disappointed that I didn't make an unending list of earthly acquisition - cars, mansions, money in both local and foreign banks, luxury yacht,... to mention but a few? Are you worried that the singular list did not make mention of good health(alaafia to pe like my people in the western Nigeria would call it), promotions as an incentive for being a Christian?

'Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.' Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

Every other benefits than a guaranteed everlasting life in God's kingdom could be classified as secondary - (side attractions, added advantages, fi si, ja ra)

For Christ, himself, recognised this sole benefit and promised us(Christian) a life after with Him in God's kingdom.

'When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am' John 14:3 (NLT)

An everlasting life in the kingdom with Christ is a life devoid of lacks and wants. A life that guarantees true freedom and adds no sorrow. An everlasting life that gives all the class of prince and princess to reign with Christ as a reward for your fervent followership of Christ way.

'Whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never become thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become a well of water for him, springing up to eternal life' John 4:14 (ISV)

Till we meet again next Sunday, I beseech you brethen to remain a Christian, seek no other addendum without first asking for life in God's kingdom as a reward for you steadfast followership.
