ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN? (pt 1)

Hello men and brethren on Steemit, it is yet another Sunday and I will be asking us a familiar but pertinent question in our struggle for salvation: Are you a Christian?

The disciples were first called Christian in the New Testament as seen in Acts 11:26
'and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples when called Christians first at Antioch.' (NIV)

A Christian is someone who believes in the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. Are you a Christian?
Are you in complete harmony with the life and teaching of Jesus Christ?

Are you a Christian? Being a Christain goes beyond having a Christian name. It has nothing to do with the religion of your parents if yourself is yet to acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus in your life. Being a Christian requires more than the universal believe in the existence of a God factor if Christ is missing in the way. In John 14:6
'Jesus answered, 'I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me' (NIV)

To be qualified as a Christian, it is required that you first and foremost accept Jesus as the way( in his doctrine,sacrifice and spirit) and secondly, as the truth in opposition to all false religion. Being a Christian goes beyond self proclaimation. Let Christ be seen in your acts. Don't be like the pharisees. They were hypocrites and did not match their talk with walk. The pharisees are synonymous to the majority of the present day leaders in our churches and other high ranking places that shamelessly ask members and followers to do only what they preach and leave out what they do.

Are you a Christian? You prefer to be neutral when issue on your belief is been raised or discussed because you seek acceptance from all and sundry more than you crave to do the will of Christ. You cleverly avoid persecution to save your face and pride rather than accept persecution for the sake of the kingdom. 2 Timothy 3:12
'Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution' (KJV)
You are still influenced and controlled by the spirit of the end times. You seek for role models in politics, hollywood, nollywood, bollywood, sportsmen and on social media(Steemit inclusive) without imitating and following the life and the teachings of Christ that is pleasing to God. Ephesians 5:1
'Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly beloved children' (NIV)

Finally, Are you a Christian? If yes, what friuts are you bearing?

Matthew 7:20
'Thus, by their fruit you will recognise them'
Your actions and characters are your fruits.The emotions you exhibit irrespective of your innate temperament are your fruits. For a Christian is not a person that: bears false withness, trade malicious hate speeches,envious of others progress,gain-say or lie for favour and pleasure,receive nor give bribe,covetous of others hard earned money(fiat or crypto) and properties.
A Christian is that person that bears good fruits as listed by Apostle Paul in Galatians 5:22-25
'22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit' (NIV)
A Christian is that person that is righteous in all his ways(public or private,online or offline).

1 John 2:29
'If you know (perceive and are sure) that He [Christ] is [absolutely] righteous [conforming to the Father’s will in purpose, thought, and action], you may also know (be sure) that everyone who does righteously [and is therefore in like manner conformed to the divine will] is born (begotten) of Him [God].' (AMPC)

Are you a Christian?... Are you genuinely born of God?
