LEVEL UP #6 - Complete rest

in #religion7 years ago

The wrong man is constantly in search of fulfilment and satisfaction. Like a sea tossed by wave, his heart is perpetually in a restless state; seeking for peace, love and happiness. This constant longing of his heart drives him to labour everyday in order to fill this void.
Some labour for more money and education while some strive for power, thinking that the attainment of these would still the restlessness of their hearts. The reality is that the more man possesses, the more his heart longs for something greater. No level of accomplishment can satisfy or fill the emptiness in him. Ecclesiastes 12:8 concludes that all of mans labour on earth is all "vanity upon vanities".

God created man so that He could have constant fellowship with him, but unfortunately the fall of man made this impossible (Rom 3:23). Sin created a vacuum in man's life, and he became a restless because he lacks true happiness, satisfaction and peace of mind. Only God can fill this void completely and guarantee him a fufilling life and a peaceful state of mind. A life without Jesus is riddled with crises because it is empty of the Prince of Peace. Why is the world in so much chaos today. full of troubles and confussion, ripped asunder by famine and drought, ravaged by wars and restiveness and doomed by the impending judgement of God? It is because people have found no place for God in their heart. The entire universe can know peace only when man establishes a relationship with his maker. Then we have peace with God and man (Rom 5:1).

A sinful life can never experience lasting peace and true happiness (Isa. 48:22). The only way out of this restlessness is to embrace God's provision through Christ. In him there is rest from all your burdened soul and restless heart! There ispeace for that troubled mind of yours. He said "Come unto me all ye that labor and heavy laden and i will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28).

In the midst of confussion, God will guard your heart with peace. It is well

Shalom

I'm not a Christian, but I agree with almost everything that you say.

As for Jesus, I don't doubt that he, or a man like him, existed and that he was holy as the texts suggest, but I don't think he is the "only way" to salvation as many Christians preach.

The way is simply one's own heart, IMO. Jesus was special because he made communion with God. In a sense, you could say he and God were one - a shared heart. However, we all have the same heart, so Jesus' only specialness is that he chose to make the communion - he accepted the invitation from God and that requires giving up on a self-focused (selfish) life.

This is all just my opinion, of course. I wouldn't go around preaching that this is the truth, it just makes more sense to me, based on my own experiences and a bit of research into religion/ spirituality.

I only feel the need to point this out due to a common belief among a certain sect of Christians that only Christians will "make it to heaven". I don't buy that. A Buddhist who lives selflessly by surrendering his/ her life and personal pursuits to God is more than worthy of His love and acceptance. The same goes for followers of all religions and even atheists who make an honest/ earnest attempt to find and live from a place inside of themselves that is more selfless and good.
