I have decided to study The Quran. This is for #discussion open to all regardless of religious views. Please contribute respectively to the dialogue. I have seen how extreme and disrespectful people can become when given a chance to hold meaningful dialogue about such topics. I am not here to interpret The Quran but gain knowledge, understanding and other’s point of view. I would like to hear anyone's interpretation and analogy of these verses if it remains respectful towards the religion. I will not post a Surah (chapter) until I have read it and have something meaningful and a personal take on it to contribute to the discussion. I will not post a Surah in my post rather if I speak on a certain verse I will mention the verse I am referring to. I am currently studying The Quran and Hadiths. The Hadiths were compiled by Imām al-Bukhārī.

When we think of religion we say the first man was Adam. According to (4:3) it tells that man was created from a single soul. From that single soul a mate was created. This is a miracle of evolution.

After reading (4:3) I remember that when I talk about studying the Quran most people always mention that a Muslim can have 4 wives. If I became a Muslim, it would not be to have 4 wives. Also, I have not met Muslims in America who have 2 wives but only what we in the western world would call common law marriage because in most U.S states polygamy is against the law

In Women (an-Nisa) it talks about inheritance and how it should be dispersed. The reward for leaving a will in accordance to these ayahs is the path to paradise.

This sura is full social morals and standards. It deals with relationships and sexuality. It deals with incest which is forbidden in Islam. According to (4:34) it speaks on how a man is to deal with their wives. I can see this ayah being misinterpreted causing a Muslim to beat his wife. It does give permission to strike your wife.

Names and Attributes of Allah in sura an-Nisa
Watchful Most Merciful Reckoner
Knowing Judious Clement
Redeemer Wise Full of Mercy
Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful Witness
All-Seeing Sublime Capable
Most Powerful Knowledgeable Forgiving
Great Expert Pardoning
Protector Guardian Bounteous
Supporter Allah Most Wise
All-Seeing Relenting Aware
Cognizant Appreciative

The sura an-Nisa has 176 ayahs and it was a very deep and controversial read. I believe it to be a great reference and easy to understand. This sura mentioned any of the prophets if Allah.

nice post

If the Quran is translated, it often gets a different meaning. I have a Quran translated in Indonesian which has a different meaning than my husbands's Quran which he bought in Egypt. I bought my Quran in Indonesia. His Quran is translated in German but because he bought it in Egypt, they translated the Quran like the real meaning and Surah An-Nisa is translated more women friendly than the Indonesian translated Quran. The arabic letters are however exactly the same. So I think it is the people who translate the Qurans.

Which Quran is translated similar to the English one I use in my posts? Is it also more women friendly?

Im not sure about yours. But my husband's is from Al Azhar teaching (Cairo) which has a more woman friendly translation.
