Song of the Day - Bach Brandenburg 4, 3rd movement (Bach Collegium Japan)
This is my submssion for @recordpool, Song of the Day.
Continuing on a bit of a Brandenburg streak, this is also a great concerto from the Brandenburg set by JS Bach. This particular performance is by the Bach Collegium Japan which has some of the best Bach interpretations and performances in the world! Weirdly, someone set their music to the Equaliser background, but at least there isn't the distracting "performing to the camera" effect of some of the other YouTube videos. This is just good music and a great performance, no fake and cringy smoochy eyes at each other....
Apart from having a really kick arse violin solo, I love telling the solo recorders that at 1:45 in this video, that they sound like a toy train! I usually wait till just before the concert starts to tell them this really important musical observation!

Oh, you meany! You can add Bach into the column of "what I do like". I think of recorders as being a school "intro to woodwind" instrument. Are they commonly in an orchestra?
Not in a modern orchestra. But in the Baroque time, they appeared as part of a wind complement, or as soloists or part of a chamber ensemble. Then we learnt better, and stopped writing for them!
Recorder is very common now as part of music education in the U.S. :) [I love to see the growth in students but the first days are always difficult D: )
As Bengy stated, the recorder was used in many ensembles prior to the 1900s. King Henry and lots of elitist/monarchs owned dozens of hand crafted recorders. Other woodwind instruments were developed and preferred over the simplistic recorder. Now it's used in general music and can even be heard in sound tracks like Lord of The Rings.

I think it's all just a metaphor ...no pain no gain. ;)
