Wholemeal and Echinacea Chai bread (No more colds for you!)
Healthy wholemeal and super cold buster echinacea chai tea!!
The health benefits of echinacea are everywhere on the net and I often have it as a tasty tea. Even more tasty when it is part of a Chai tea with its aromatic spices. I make green tea bread often, so why not use the echinacea Chai tea and see what kind flavour this brings! Well it's remarkable, it tastes bloody marvelous!! Let's get stuck in to the making of it!!
You will need
250 grams of wholemeal flour
250 grams of strong white flour
2 teaspoons of quick acting yeast
1 teaspoon of salt
A mug of Echinacea Chai tea
Plus cold water to bring the liquid up to 350mls
To make
Measure out your flours, yeast and salt into a large mixing bowl
Make your mug of Echinacea Chai tea then add cold water to it to make it up to 350 mls before banging it into a well in the middle of your flour
Mix it all together into a sturdy lump
Cover and let it rise for an hour or two
Uncover and give it a bit of a knead before covering for another hour
After that hour put your oven on at 200 degrees!
Take your dough out and shape it like a fat cigar on a tray and cover for a final half hour. Horror of horrors I forgot to take a photo of this bit! Don't worry, I have chastised myself thoroughly!!!
After that half an hour slash the bread on the top and sling it in the oven for forty minutes
When ready, take it out and place a cooling rack. My flippity jings it smells dang amazing!!!
When its cooled slice and chomp this malty, chai'y and sassy, healthy Echinacea Chai wholemeal bread!!
You won't be getting a cold this winter by chomping on this!!
now were talking - this looks gorgeous and with a big bowl of Chill soup of some sort it would go down a treat....going to def give this one a go - although I must say bit disappointed no 'Scotch Bonnet ' appearance in this! unless you want to call @englishchrivy cat 'Scotch-bonnet' ( see its scarf)
Chilli soup!! Mmmm, there is an idea!! I try to keep scotch bonnet back from some recipes to keep it from getting dull!! Lol at that cat and it's scarf!!
