Dark Chocolate Tart!

Tarts! Who doesn't love a tasty tart? Ever since I was a lad I have had a penchant for them and this one... Wow, you could sink right into it and lose yourself in its chocolate depths.

So let's dive in!!

You will need

For the shortbread'y base
70 grams of butter at room temperature
50 grams of golden caster sugar
100 grams of self raising flour

For the dark chocolate tart filling

100 grams of dark chocolate
75 grams of golden caster sugar
75 grams of butter
4 large eggs
50 grams of plain flour

Some nice ice cream to go with it!

To make

Start with the shortbread base.
Cream the butter and sugar together then add the flour. Give a very small squeezy knead till it comes together in a big ball of dough

Get your oven on at 180 degrees.

Flatten the shortbread dough into a tart tin. I use a cake tin that's about eight inches wide. After you have flattened it, cool it in the fridge for ten minutes. Your oven should be ready now. Take out the base and prick it with a fork like so

Wallop your base in the oven for 15 minutes

Whilst your base is baking you can get on with the filling.

Melt the rest of your butter with the chocolate in a small pan. Whilst that's melting give your eggs a whisk in a bowl.

Once that's all melted add the sugar and flour and stir well. Then slowly stir in the eggs. When you add the eggs your mix will look grainy but give it a real good beating and it will quickly become smooth and glossy.

Your shortbread'y base should be ready. Take it out the oven!

Pour your choc tart gloop onto it! Then bang it back into the oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

When it's ready, take it out of the oven and chill in the fridge till cool. Then when cool sift some icing sugar over the top. Tada!!!
